    Usual Question...

Hey fellas, I have a FASTech that will show up at the door this week... I want to have kfxguy do a little work on it but I want to figure some stuff out first. To get an idea I don't want to go fast, I want runtime and reliability... Boat will be used offshore, literally the ocean!
    So the questions begin!
What ESC can handle 4s with 0 problems?
    SK120V3?

What motor should I go with?
    1600-1800kv-ish 36mm can?

Would a Stinger drive be usable on this hull?

    Larger trim tabs?

I might go with two 2 cell lipos in parallel... 8200mah x2= RUNTIME!!!!
    Lol

It still has stock stuff so
Should I just be happy with that or will "wave jumping" blow the ESC? Stock is 45-amp with a 1500kv. The recommended is 7.2V NI-MH...

I pretty much answers my first 2 questions... I've read up on the trim tab "dog ears" and turn fin bending.. Id rather not make this a huge money pit boat, I just want it when we are out on the big Formula and fishing trips in the bay....
This may belong in the FASTech section but who even browses over there anymore????!!
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

I have new in package turn fins and adjustable trim tabs....should a asked...you can have them cheap...lol. I'd put an 1800kv proboat motor in it (I have one too) with some sealed ceramic bearings for keeping water out and more reliability (they are already in the aforementioned motor lol). I'd use the proboat 80 amp esc if you can find one. They are pretty robust and waterproof. If not then use a SeaKing 120. X642 slightly detounged for the prop.

Your quick! Well sounds like you have some of my new parts lined out! I'd text ya but I don't have cell signal (mooching wifi right now in a concrete building...)
I was thinking yesterday about getting a BlackJack 29 power system and go from there but since you have a motor for me then that works.
I will be needing a .187 flex as well!

        The usual answers, lol...

I have two FASTechs, depending how much work you and Travis are willing to put into, I find the factory drive train set up is not the best for boat guys like us. The factory cable is not that great but you are stuck with it because the strut is a two piece design. So if you guys are not afraid of some work, replace it with either a stinger or conventional strut. You might have to take out the factory stuffing tube and some mod to the transom, I would reinforce the transom and install backing plates behind the trim tab and turn fins. Pay attention to the flex of the hull, usually along the wooden frame is where stress cracks develop.
I took out the radio box and sealed the antenna hole ( big one) on the hatch, and I tape it although it is a major PITA. I am sure Travis will think of a way to put his signature hatch locks . The magnet on the hatch plus the front flimsy wooden pin is a disaster waiting to happen.
An 1800kv motor is plenty and a 440 prop is a good start.
        Love the boat!
Too many boats, not enough time...

Thank you tlandauer for suggestions! I plan to "have" kfxguy basically gut the insides and start over... Carbon Inlay, better motor mount, battery tray(s), new rudder, maybe new tabs and T-fins... Basically to the point where it is stock-ish lookin' on the outside but on the inside it's a dream of Carbon Fiber and Aluminum. When it's done it will be almost like a custom built boat. I am shopping OSE right now! I don't think the wooden hatch "stick" will hold up either... lol I just checked tracking and She (Yes, She) should be here tomorrow!!!! I love the design but not the hardware on this thing... Will be a fun boat for playing around while out on the big water! I don't want to put the floaty foam in it, I just want regular pool noodles in this one. I hope She gets here A-Ok, I hope the seller boxed it up ok.

Sounds like a great plan, can't wait to see the before -and-after transformation.

I'd have to see it but we could put an adjustable stinger on it. I'd fill the front with two part kintec foam. I love that stuff. It makes it stronger and I haven't had it expand on me like can foam does. I have some .187 flexes here in my stash already.....

Don't worry I will add before and after pictures... For now just have to worry about where to hide this box!!!! lol
This will be a 2 month project. I would like to get the stuff on my end ordered and then send it off so we have a smooth build. I'm still in a concrete building doing network wiring so no cell signal... Free wifi though! I should be back at the house by 1...

Quick question that I know the answer to (Try to refrain from a Google search for 30 seconds): What does Wi-Fi stand for?

Hey, boat is in very good condition, I am sure it will be awesome once it is CF reinforced and all the gut is replaced by more reasonable hardware!!!

Man do I hate Posting pictures from Tapatalk. I am going to send them an email about multi picture posting.... But the OSE has a per post picture limit of 5 so..
Anyways, I see why this boat was "short-lived". From a distance it looks great though! All these little nicks and dings add up though.. The turn fin looks like it tried to be a steak knife...... The trim tabs even have burs on them, I believe that the 2.4GHz Radio model was better. This one feels different....
So watcha think kfxyguy? I would text these to you but sheesh, your phone might freeze up with all of these coming at once... lol
After looking at this thing for a while I don't think a Stinger drive would work well.
Still needs a longer rudder (dual pickup) and I am not sure on these tabs or fins.
