    Carbon Fiber Popeye

Well I have just finished my Popeye Hydro ,

After seeing Paul's Popeye going for the first time almost 12 months ago I wanted one. Now that there are others running I wanted one even more so after a quick discussion to Luke from Revenge Boats a Carbon fiber version was ordered with a one piece flex drive, All hardware minus the SSS Motor. I also stipulated that the carbon hull to be finished in the 2 tone green Popeye colours as I love that paint scheme.

This is going to be raced in next years season in our restricted class ( 45A Aquacraft esc and 1500 kv motor) but wanted to start on it now to have it fully sorted. Since this is a carbon hull care has to be taken in the electrics installation. The hardest is item to do was the safety loop as it has to be insulated from the carbon hull. A external aerial has to be run too which I don't normally do.

I'm rapt in the finish from TFL on this Popeye. Everything was tight and well installed. A big Thank You to Luke from Revenge Boats here in Brisbane & Paul for his set up tips.... Now for some testing can't wait..

Very nice Mark. I guess we'll be raiding my prop box this weekend eh! Bring plenty of batteries.

This is way cool, I generally do not care for the cf finish, but if painted, it is entirely a different story. I have enjoyed my Popeye very much, tell us more when you have a chance to run her!
Too many boats, not enough time...

Hint...try putting a single 4S pack directly in front of the motor, cross ways in the hull.

I found my P-Spec Popeye likes the weight farther back...airs out nicely.

My P-Sport Popeye likes the weight all the way forward.

Do you run the struts up high on both setups?
I have mine up as high as it will go but feel it should go up a bit more.

yup...almost touches the hull, remember, I modded my strut to allow more adjustment.

I do remember reading it, but I just wasn't sure if it was on both the P & the P spec setups.
                    Thanks for the clarification.

                    Are you paying attention Mark?

up makes the boat run "looser"...keep the prop angle as neutral as possible.
