    boat cutting out

I have a mean Machine running Lep 4074 200KV timing at around 11.5 ? 2 4000ma 5s Parallel.. 180 ESC (seaking) .. if I nail it from the git go it stalls in about 100ft. If I take it easy, it stays running,, I suspect a heat problem. By the time I get the cover off the temps are at 130 on the motor and 113 on the esc I have the LVC disabled . I feel the problem is not in my speed control the motor was pretty hot and my cells are puffed !!

Chris, what prop? What is the 4-cell pack doing in there? Hardly enough time to get hot enough to cause the thermal limiter to shut down in just 100 feet...

Hey Jay I don't use the BEC so the RX and ESC is on there it's a Life 2 cell ( I know it has 4 cells I guess 2 are in Parallel) You know I have been running that prop so long the , #'s are wone out and I am thinking 645 but I run my struts hi ... I will check it tomorrow with the pitch Gauge , could the batteries going off on thermal overload or the motor ?

Chris, do you have another motor around to put in there? That motor is pretty warm as I assume it is taking some time to get into shore. The ESC will cool quicker than the motor too.

May want to try turning the can on the motor. Looking at the pics it look like you may be getting air trapped in the can with having the exit so far down on the side of the motor.

Oh dang, good catch. Oh yes, the forward water outlet on the cooling can should be the water exit and should be on the top.
But I cannot see the motor heating up in 100ft if all is well.
It could be possible that under hard acceleration that 645 is drawing enough to overtax the ESC.

Exactly 5-7 miniutes get it ashore

Jay the prop is a slightly reduced X442 I think it is on the safe size ...

                  Hey Chris.
Had for me to see what's going on in there lol, so I'm just going to write down a few things I would look at before the next run. If I've missed anything, please correct me someone.
1 Leo 4074/2000 if wye wind then timing 10-11,5 is ok. If delta wind then low timing in the 1-3's or 0
2 loose the small cap bank that's hanging off the ESC they are evil, solder 2-3 35v 1000uf or so on there.
3 cut the wires as short as you possibly can on the ESC
4 same goes for cooling lines, cut as short as you can
5 not sure how your cooling is plumbed, but try to cool "motor can" first then to ESC, then out. The front mount is not super important. So if you can find a short way in cooling, you are in front. The 42 prop is a good start and should be safe to run. It could of cause be a motor or ESC issue, but I would check some of the points mentioned. Even if you end up with a new motor, you should still consider the mods. So in a nut shell....Correct volts to motor, Correct timing, shortest way to power, shortest way to cooling. Correct props.

Hey Kent actually 1774 KV , I just had the motor apart, bearing felt a litty gritty replaced it . I will take the caps off, it cut out with them off also ? I think I am going to buy the TP 4050 or 60 ?? the plumming is as short as I can get it without kicking the hose thanks chris

Ok, the TP's are a good choice. I think 4050's in the 2000kv range should be fine for what you are doing. Not really worth running a motor with problems. I don't even bother trying to fix or change bearings on cheap motors. Spend the 100 bucks and get a brand new TP.

Swordfish 2-6s 220amp Chris. The program box works well. They are more efficient at delivering power than the T-180's

                            It is simple.
Change the connectors (those crappy 4mm) on the esc-motor side with 6mm.
                            Then run it.

As Far as that goes I was thinking to putting a larger water line on the input side. and maybe reduceing the water exit to cause some back preasure ? I don't know why they design the water cans with the intake & exits where they are ??
