    Help with my ESC/motor temps

I'm running a Revolt 30 with a Leo 3674 2200kv with zero degrees of timing, and Seaking 180a V3, M445 sharpened and balanced. My temps are hovering around 122'-125'. I don't think it's running to wet and I run it for about 4 minutes. I've got my 4mm water line running to the ESC first then the motor. Any ideas on why my temps are getting up there??

    Thanks!

Try timming 3,75 and recalibrate the throtle.
Sometimes inadequate grase causes problem as in high rev is going gluey.

You think 125 degrees is bad? Not really. Especially running for four minutes straight. You can try drilling out your water fittings a little bit and then improving the water inlet on the rudder. I'm going to tell you upfront this is controversial, some people believe in slowing down the flow to help the heat transfer to the water. Well I've found that more flow is better. That's just what I've found. Also, I know this is debatable also, but if found temp reduction when seperating the cooling to both motor and esc. It won't cost you much time or money to try and it's worth trying. It's worked for me in the past. From your inlet, y off the esc and motor hoses. Then before the exit, y them back together. It sends cool water to both. Hope this helps.

Never run any brushless motor at zero degrees timing. All motors require some timing. How much depends on load & revs. But as yours is a D wind motor, do as jkr suggested & run it at the 3.75 deg setting.

I don't think it's controversial anymore. There have been numerous threads debating the high volume fast flow verses the low volume slow flow for cooling. Fast flow is definitely the most efficient.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Good deal...I didn't want to start another debate. Lol

Ok I recalibrated the throttle and set the timing to 3.75. Hopefully that helps a little. What are the ideal temps for this setup roughly? This is basically a sport boat that I just like to go fast for 3-4 minutes.

              Thanks again!

If you keep the esc under 130 and the motor under 140 I'd be fine with that. That would be max that I'd run my stuff. Ideally I like to keep the motor under 120 and esc under 120. That's just what I like tho.

You never stated your voltage, but since you're running a 2200 kv motor, Im going to ASSume you are running 4s. If you are at 125 degrees after a timed 4 minute run, you are doing pretty good. Anything under 135 is good in my book, especially with summertime water temps.

Try to minimize your stopping and going, keep it on plane moving for better temps.

Never run any brushless motor at zero degrees timing. All motors require some timing....
                        From the Neu Motors website:
"Settings for ICE and ICE HV controllers when for F5B use:
Use software version 4.01 or higher!
                        ...Motor Start Power: 59
                        Direction: Forward (*)
                        Brake Strength: 100
                        Current Limiting: Disabled
BEC Voltage: 5(not for ICE HV)
                        Power-On Beep: Enabled (*)
                        Motor Timing: 0
                        ..."

What many don't realize is that no quality brushless ESC actually runs a motor at only the 'setting' degrees timing, it is always changing timing to suit the load. The "setting" just helps to limit the range the ESC uses for timing - this from Patrick the owner of Castle. There is no problem using a setting of "0" timing on a "D" wind motor.

To the OP: 125 *F is certainly not too hot for anything in your boat after 4 minutes of running - especially in the summer when water temps are warm and provide less cooling. If the motor, ESC and packs stay under 140*F (measured immediately after the boat hits the bank) you will not damage anything.

One more question, my 2 capacitors that came with this 180a v3 are getting up to 155 degrees. Is that ok??
