new to fe boating..impulse 31 or black jack29

Hi everybody. I'am brand new to this site and boating so please bare with me. I am sure there is a thread thats been already posted regarding my question but I'm still learning how to navigate. My question is I am looking to buy a electric boat from what I've read pro boats are pretty nice. Iam going to run on ponds and lakes with very calm water. I will not be racing just looking to have fun. which boat to you guys recommend between the two. I am mainly looking for reliability and speed. I am looking to spend around $500. Thanks all

Given your water conditions, the Blackjack 29 will be the faster of the two boats. If your water conditions turn lumpy, I would actually go with the Impulse as it's V-bottom does a bit better if there is some chop. Both boats are 6s ready, but are NOT 6s boats as they come in stock configuration. Some folks will run them on 6s for a bit, and burn up the factory 80 amp esc. (Been there, done that)

Stick with 4 or 5s on the 1800 kv motor and it will do pretty well. If you want a 6s boat, plan on swapping out the 80 amp esc and 1800 kv motor with something in the 180 amp/ 1400-1600 kv range.

Things will stay much cooler, and you can prop to compensate for the reduced rpm's.

ive owned both and i cant tell you which i like better now that i think about it. If I just had to choose, it would be an impulse 31. For some reason even tho they are made by the same company, in my opinion, the impluse 31 is constructed better. The wood innards detach semi easily in the geico/bj29/mystic. I didnt feel that would happen with the impulse. The impulse is really one sweet rtr. I wish I hadnt sold mine.

Sorry this is a completely different boat from the OP post but my vote goes to the Traxxas Spartan. Its an awesome boat.
