    Help picking a cat

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and was after some help picking a cat. I currently have a Traxxas Spartan running 6s and i live in NSW Australia. I have been looking around at a few different cats like the blackjack 29, hobby king genesis, zonda cat, rc boat bitz genesis and 34" enzo (both come in twin and single motor setup), fightercat daytona, ose delta force explorer. I really like the fightercat daytona hull but i have never built a boat before. What would you recommend i should look at getting. I want something that will be fast and reliable that can keep up and maybe out run my 6s spartan.

Also what is better single or twin motor setup? Pros and cons?

You will have to build it, but the H&M M-1 Supercat is a good hull and handles well due to the wide beam. Also, you learn a lot from building a hull with power, hardware and other goodies you specify, plus the satisfaction that you built it.

The SuperCat is a great hull, not scale looking but outstanding overall performance. It can be built with either single or twin power, if it's your first build then go single. A single can be very fast yet is a lot simpler and usually cheaper to build. I have raced this hull and it handles far better than the usual scale 'mystic' design cats do. I watched this hull make pass after pass at over 100 mph last Fall at the LA SAWs, it is capable of very high speeds.

As for being faster than your Spartan, that depends on how you rig it. A Neu 1527/1.5D on a good 6S pack with a modded x648 prop can get you well over 60 mph. Do your water conditions allow this kind of speed?

41'' hull and $162.50 I found the service very poor but others have had good things to say. if you can find this hull some place else I would. It is a very good start. Kintecracing has it ready to go. But if you want to build it he has great parts for it and great service. Look at the 180 amp SeaKings and TP-4250 2220kv motors The ruder and stingers can be had there also. The one piece drives are a must and he has some that are made in the USA and are very good.
I do not like the 2 bolt ruder mount that the boat comes with and would buy one with 4 mounting holes. The hull cracked on mine because of this. I repaired the problem and upgraded. You should look at the hardware that your buying from a a crash test point of view. if it looks like it will cause a problem in a crash it will. Stingers that mount in 2 places are much stronger and will hold up better. Also look at what people have done to make their hulls stand up to power. There are some great builds here and some are done with light pockets. Take your time and see what those tricks are and you will have a lot of fun and something you can be proud of. I like SMC lipos and lipos are very important to great performance. Taking good care of your lipos ins't talked about much but it should be.
I really like the new 45" hull That Keith has. It is in another price bracket and should be considered if your more advance. Also if theses hulls are to big look at the hulls that Kintecracing has. Good prices and quality stuff. Good luck with your build.
Here is a video of my hull with some of what I just talked about. The hull has the saddle added to the rear of the hull on the out side and also a front bulk head added both made of carbon fiber the hull brace fro the servo mount and motor mount also stiffen the hull with out adding much weight. Getting them to stick to the hull is a trick and I ended up using E6000 cement glue from WalMart under the epoxy that came loose after just 1 run. It works great now with no issues.
