Motor ESC combo 30" Scratch Built Cat I Want to heat race

    Build thread http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...+scratch+build

    The time has come

I'm not even gonna try and say I know enough to pick the right setup for this boat!!! I respect those who have already been where I'm going and hope that your guidance will help me complete a CAT that I can race in both P and Q classes.

I put my revolt motor and esc in this boat with 2 zippy 2s 5000 40c grim 42x55 stock prop. Im hooked!!! The boat ran flawless and seemed to beg for more came right out of the water no bounce or hop! When I brought it in after 3 min runtime my batteries were way beyond where they are in the revolt after a heat race. A 6 lap heat race in my revolt is almost a perfect 70% everytime!

I'm also tossin around the idea about maybe doing a wire drive too...

    So what you think?

Very nice!! With the motor mounted up forward I think you would be okay with a wire drive.

IMO - Full P Power in a 30 inch boat will give her all the power she can handle. Q Power is just a bit too much for heat racing that sized hull. I would choose the common 4S heat racing motor Neu 1515 1Y with a M445 prop. That combo would get her ripping. The Castle 1515 1Y would also be a good motor (and cheaper) and there are other offerings from Leopard and TP. I don't run Leopards and TP's so I can't recommend a specific motor. You will need more than 5000 mAh to complete a heat so more mAh capacity will be in order. Don't know how much room you have for bigger packs. For ESC I've been running the Swordfish 220 in my P-Mono and have been very happy with it so far.

If of course, you have a P-Limited Cat class in your area, you could just leave the set up alone and run her as is.

Thanks Mike I think I could fit those Dinogy 2s and 3s 6500Mah 65c, what's out there and how much more would I need? I've been putting off building battery trays because IDK what I'll end up with... So for the few runs I've done I just wrapped the batteries in wash cloth and put them all the way back 1 in each sponson. I guess I could remount the servo out of the way and then put batteries up on the tunnel but I think down in the sponsons is better because the weight is lower in the boat.
