The rotor must have been hitting the winding, It still runs, I guess, I should plan on getting another one. How do I check for shorts I did check the resistance between leads looked about the same ??Comments please thanks chris

Sorry, must be the mark where the cooler O ring was, I am no expert. The motor that was brand new and burned had a smell before that happened, if everything checks out OK now, my $.02 is to pay attention to any unusual odor.
Sorry, didn't mean to jump in here and offer BS response, I was just curious on that mark on the motor can.

It looks like to me the there was some excess epoxy or lacquer inbetween the rotor and widens. I'm looking at the pics on my phone so I may be wrong. If this is the case you need to get a small flap wheel or cross buff and clean it out so the rotor doesn't contact it.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

Is the rotor making contact with the windings? This looks like it's just the nature of the beast with some budget motors. I've seen windings look like this on Tacon and a couple TP motors before. Poor quality control. If the rotor shows no sign of contact, and it's not running excessively hot, I would leave it alone and run it. If it is rubbing, that's a different story."There's nothing else I really want to do other than get up and build boats." - Mike FioreComment
