I've got a old Prather mono hull I want to convert it from nitro to brushless. Problem is I have no idea what is the right motor or esc. I would prefer to achive this on 4s but if 6s is required that's fine. For a speed goal I was thinking 50mph or faster. So what motor/esc would you recommend? What prop should I run? Finally I want to do this for a small amount of $ if I could keep it under 150 that would be great if thats not doable I'll find a way to make it work. Thanks

Holy crap bro, Idk you wanted to push that big ol' bastard that fast. Your looking at 8 -10s power. The ESC to comfortably push that thing will be $150+. I know we discussed the traxxas spartan eearlier on 6s, but that's a lightweight 36" plastic hull. there's no way 6s is going to put that prather that fast.
Granted, getting a pair of 4s or 5s cells that you can run in series, and getting a motor big enough to push that thing is fairly easy. the big ticket item is going to be the ESC. Ateast you have the hull and hardware already setup, As far as that goes, about all it needs is a motor mount and maybe a bit smaller prop to make it go. Unless you reworked something trying to shoehorn a weedeater motor in it ?.Comment

I put a turnigy t-20 on 12s with a castle 200hv esc in a 46 inch prather deep vee. It ran well but had more power than the boat could handle.
I also tried a leopard 4092 1480kv with a t-180 esc in that same boat on 6s. It actually performed pretty well, better than I thought it would .... at least as good as the os 81 it used to have, the only thing I did not like was the esc was getting warmer than I liked . The prather hulls are not light weight but they seem a lot lighter than the old dumas deep vees from back then. This was just stuff I had on hand and I decided to experiment. I am still learming but I thought I would share . My 46 inch hull was a bit too large but if your boat is around 40 inches the t-180 / leopard 6s setup would work for just playing around. Not sure what speeds you would see but I bet it would beat the nitro.Comment

I'm not 100 0/0 certain that it is a Prather. I posted a pic here when I first got it and somebody commented the radio box looked like a Prather. the guy I got it from inherited it when his dad passed and knew nothing about it. So if anybody has a clue to its true manufacturer please enlighten me.Comment
