I've used conformal silicone to water proof my esc's, use can also use Corrosion X. But when using Corrosion X, you, l have to re-apply from time to time.
I've tried a few things with mixed results. The very best thing I've come up with is dipping in plasti dip. That's hard to do with an esc however. The can isn't big enough to dip most esc's. I've been having good like dipping BECs. I'll use clear general purpose epoxy in a thin coat on a receiver. I'll do the same on an esc and then spray over it with plasti dip. Funny how this thread popped up because I just left home Depot with a couple more products I'm going to try this evening to see if I can find better. Spray electrical tape does not work well at all. It shrinks too much then tears. Spray plasti dip works better. I'll keep you posted on the other stuff.

Kfxguy no problems with heat retention, when using plasti dip? That was my only concern with using it.
I can't say for sure. I've had esc's fail with coating and fail without so it's hard to say. I have gotten them wet with coating and work fine. One has to think tho....there are a few coated from the factory esc's and I guess the coating doesn't pose a problem with them. I always find a way to add to the cooling anyway. I like the idea of conformal silicon like you posted. I may look into that. I think that's what the new seaking 180 V3 has on it. It's kids hard but still flexible. Maybe post up what you use? I'm interested.

Many conformal coatings will leak when wires flex and break the seal. I have had excellent results with CorrosionX, last Spring my rigger blew over and the hatch came loose. The boat was flooded and floating tips up, the Castle ESC (well known to be very water sensitive) was under water for ten minutes. Because I had flooded the ESC with CorrosionX when it dried out it worked perfectly. CorrosionX sticks tighter than epoxy (it is far less viscous) and I only re-apply once every year or so....don't know if that is even needed. Clearly there is more than one way to skin this cat, but Corrosion works great for me.

Jay, does corrosion x dry or stay wet?

jay, when applying corrosion -x to an esc, do you remove cooling blocks from fets, coat with corrosion-x and then clean fets and re-do thermal paste? or just leave assembled and coat.
i use deft oil based polyurethane , I recieved a couple suppo escs in the past from fighter cat and they smelled like poly so i used it since then with no failures
