    MGM COMPRO ESC's

Looking for some advice from someone experienced with them. I'm running an Outerlimit's SV43, 59" version. Powered by castle 2028 with 10s2p and an x452/3. I'm going to order one but not sure if I should get the 40063-3x2 series pro, or a 25063-3x2 series pro. I don't want to say the 40063 is over kill for this hull, I have another project which could easily use the 40063, but without running it, I don't know what kind of amps to expect. The 25063 is rated at 360 max peak amps and the 40063 is rated at 500 max peak amps. You can order these with many feature's and I'm not sure if we can actually use most or all of them in this application. Any help greatly appreciated.

I've got one coming, I ordered a TMM 28026-3 X-2 series lite it's the bare bones version 280 amp cont. 340 peak it's going in a ML GP400 I ordered. The 28026's are 6s units, if you have future use for a high amp ESC I'd go ahead and get the 40063

      JJ,

That motor on 10S2P can pull more than 250 amps in a single installation. I run one on a 48" FE thunderboat with 2028, 10S2P and a X457/3. Current was around 260A for several seconds coming out of the corner. The MGM's are very sensitive on their current limiting and you cannot pull much over the rated limit (the continuous limit). When I ran a 25063 it would current limit after several laps, with a 40063 there were no problems. If you have room I strongly advise to go with the larger 40063.

If you are running twins, you can probably get away with a 25063 on each motor.

Great info Tyler, Thanks. I was on their site and I was looking at the add on's. One question I had was axial wires. Not sure I understand what they mean. Is that similar to the SF300 PRO+ ? Also, 2 types of water protection. I want to save SOME money and not walk out with a $1500 ESC. If I want Full water protection, do I unselect the regular WP protection? I've attached a photo of the config page. If anyone can help with a few of the selections I would greatly appreciate it. I have just a few questions on some of the terms.

WP is the conformal coated version and the preferred, repair is almost impossible with WR. If you don't select axial they will come looking like the T180s for both the caps and the power wires. Also, "Power cables mounted with ring terminals" is a nice option. It will come with a set of 8ga wires and if you later decide you need a different (longer) length its a matter of getting a new set of cables.

Check also with rocketcityracing.com, you may get it little cheaper.

If you want full water protection select WR.

            WR:
WR Version (full protection against water)

Thanks Oscarel, So should I un-select the WP from the list? If I don't, it add's on to the total cost. Also, do you know what they mean by 10mm, or 6mm power conductor's? My take is the cables but size would be 10mm2 = 8ga, and 6mm2 = 12 or 10ga?
Last question, what is Possibility of Operation with Sensors Motors?

I just answered one of my questions. You must "tick" the WP selection box in order to add the WR selection. It wont let you complete the "add to cart" if you dont.

Your numbers are interesting. I run the same set up (2028,10s2p,x457(Andy brown) ) in a 43 inch seaducer mono and my top amps are around 175amps. Curious why my amp draw is so much lower with a mono?
I am using a castle ice hv 200 amp esc. My top speed is about 66mph on that set up.

Are you guys happy with the MGM ?

I believe your sizes are correct. Sensored motors are used with cars, no need to select it. There's a picture here if you want to see what the power cables look like. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...789#post531789

John, As previously mentioned, you want the WP version not the WR version. The wire options depend on your installation. The ring terminal option is the most universal as it allows multiple options plus you can always add parallel wires or new wires much easier. I use this option on the bigger ESC's.

The support is OK, Martin at MGM has been flooded with success of the controllers and take some time to respond, but many questions we can answer.

JJ I hope you don't mind asking some of the same questions regarding MGM controllers? I'm looking at getting a pair for my HPR 115. But I'm also not sure as which ones to get, I'm looking at the TMM 25035-3 for Race Boats X2-SERIES PRO or the TMM 28026-3 for Race Boats X2-SERIES PRO

If you never plan on going any more than 6s, get the TMM 28026-3 because they are quite a bit cheaper. but if you think you may someday go more than 6s or you might use them in a different build someday, get the TMM 25035-3 you might also want to look @ the X2 lite series it's the same power without all the extra features and it's about $100 less.
