Will my T120a ESC handle this set up?

    I just purchased a Leo 4082 1600kv for my Genesis and I already have a T120a AquaStar. I am currently running 2x3s in series (4000mAh 30-40C) with a PRB4019 prop.

I'm not sure if the prop is right for this set up or if the ecs will handle the motor. Any advise or help would be appreciated.

Nope. You need a lot more esc cushion than a T-120. T-180 would work well

Because you'll over amp the esc.

Seaking 180 is what you need. That 120 isn't enough. You may get away with it using that stock prop for a short time....but you will let the smoke out of the esc. That a pretty big motor, capable of pulling more amps than that esc will handle. You always want a little cushion room on what the esc will handle vs what the motors will draw.

I had that exact same setup when I first started in fe, but I was running slightly smaller prop (I think it may have been the stock 38mm). All was fine for the first 2 or 3 outings but next time out the caps on esc decided to blow. I'd definitely go for a larger esc. As kfxguy said that 1600kv motor can spin a fairly large prop… eventually you would want to push the boundaries of speed and start experimenting with larger props.

Thanks guys. I think I will throw the esc and motor up in the for sale section as a combo and see if I can get enough cash to help get a larger esc.

I wouldn't even know what to ask for it. Paid $75 and it's only had one actual run on it. Have a 180a or more you want to do some trading with?

And also put that Genesis rudder up for sale. I'm sure all the rudder grease has leaked out of the bushings and the water pickup port is likely worn and creating way too much extra drag for you. You should sell me yours and upgrade your rudder.

I haven't seen too many rudder upgrades specifically for the Genesis unless your referring to the dual pickup ones I see all the time. I have a rudder offset bracket coming from rc boat bitz but didn't order a new rudder while I was there.
