    Race speeds?

Please help a guy that routinely "lets out the magic smoke".

What would be a true (not keyboard) speed for a well set up:

    P Mono

    P Limited Mono

    P Sport Hydro

    P Limited Sport Hydro

    Q Sport Hydro

    Thanks!

I will help you with what I can. In my district I race P ltd off shore, P ltd Sport Hydro and P ltd hydro the most. So hear is the speeds I run at:
    P ltd off shore/P ltd mono 49MPH to 54mph
P ltd Sport Hydro my best speed is 54.8MPH
P ltd hydro is all most the same possably 56MPH max at this point. Hope this helps

Well, my Q-Sport hydro was doing approx. 55mph laps I THINK...??? 10 second lap = 60mph average and with some paddling around dead boats so I was doing around 13- 15 second laps approx.. I haven't actually dialed it in yet but, Friday I should know more... Hope to be there asap...

Testing I was doing 12 second laps but, it's not fully hooked up, bouncing a tad:

My P-mono was not the fastest and it's a bit twitchy too but, I run a 1521 1.5D Neu on 4S2P and a D/T'd x452 prop. Cells are 4 year old 25-35C and cheap HK 5800's. I use an older Swordfish 200 6S esc but, T180 would work fine. I use Zero degrees timing in a Delta Force 33 hull.

The Q-Sport Uses a custom TP Power 4070-1250kv motor. It's a Y wind I run at 10 degrees timing. It uses a SF240 esc but, I added extra cooling and improved my cooling flow for another go with the SF200 8S esc. I might need to go to a different motor connector as the XT-150's my not be dissipating enough heat. I was warned....

              I'd say that's a good "average" target...

If you want to get to the top of the heap, I'm not sure what the speeds calculate to, but the heat racing time of 1:10 is currently the record, and I know that Brian regularly runs his in the 1:11 to 1:15 range...

Thanks, just wondering about top speed at the end of the straight, average heat racing trim.

This is a GPS test run max speed so it is I think what you want. The average run time on the track is a bit of a misnomer because it is just that and not a real speed that relates to nothing but the track or oval course. Though the GPS Max speed is a little faster than runs without the extra weight. But it is a good base to work of. I would be interested in a real GPS max speed of the oval boat that Brian runs for something to shoot for. I think Brian is possibly the fastest in the country with the P LTD Hydro. Come on Brian you do not have to be shy.

If magic smoke is coming out, why would someone worry more about top speed rather than a setup that is reliable and will finish all heats? You can't win by speed alone.

Because he is a sport runner and not a racer. I my self use it as a base line much easier than needing some one to hold a stop watch for me.

We run in generally rough, windy conditions so we can't run too fast and still finish, but the fastest winning oval boats in Texas have top speeds recorded in racing heats of:

                        P Mono: 52-54

P Limited Mono: don't run the class

                        P Sport Hydro: 58-62

                        P Limited Sport Hydro: 52-54

                        Q Sport Hydro: 65-71

These speeds allow the racers to actually finish race heats, not set SAW records.

This asks nothing about sport running, strictly asking about racing classes. That's why I found some responses confusing is all....

Not that Fluid's numbers need any validation, but these hydro speeds are spot on with what we are seeing up north. Although, 71 is a FAST Q Sport!! Only Ray can achieve these speeds with his secret wind motor.
