Single stinger drive Villain IV suggestions ?

    Hello everybody ,

I picked up this new Villain recently & after looking in my boat parts drawer I realized I have almost enough stuff here to do a complete single stinger drive setup. I know it may seem like a sin since villains aernt illains without the twin steerable outdrives, but I might get a wild hair and try it anyway

I have a Cordite SS1 motor w/ Collette, Astroflight 207D ESC, 3/16" adjustable stinger drive, rudder & an x447 prop and stuffing tube...

what I'm wondering is how I would set up a stinger drive and make it work is a single ?. also the deep V section in the back of the boat is only 4 inches long, I really don't think I can cram a motor mount a stuffing tube brace and the motor into a 4 inch long space ?. also what's the easiest way to sew up the end of the stuffing tube closest to the motor so it doesn't leak water w/o hindering the flex shaft ?.

any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks

Make-a-Wake did that, he was showing it a couple years ago, he has not been on the Forum for a while, but you can do a search...

      Thanks Tim ,

I remember when wake' did that, I used to bs with him all the time. He hasn't been active on the board here in a long long time, but he is also on the board at the rcgroups forum as Scorpion1. I haven't checked recently but he was on their board like 1 or 2 months ago on his super Hawaii build. I'll look around and see if I can't find that old villain single thread...

He had some health issues, I certainly wish him well, I had always enjoyed reading his posts.
I look forward to seeing your build!

I certainly wish him well too. I understand all too well just how fast a health issue can sideline you and change everything. it seems like I been in recovery for 7 years running now , needless to say everyday's a new day to be thankful I'm still around .

I popped into wakes' profile to pull up that old thread, and it turns out he was recently here on 4/3 . anyway I don't think I can go through with a single build with this boat. This hull is just to pristine to chop up. as I was afraid of. In order to get a single in these, you have to cut the top tray or the inner hull out & just leave a 3/4" rim around the edge for structural support & do a standard single drive just like any other boat.

this is the nicest villain Hull u've ever laid my hands on. I think i'll look around & seee if I can find a donor to try this with that I don't mind cutting up....
