    Front Wing in RC Boats

Just curious, has anyone ever attempted to use a Wing ( Lexan/ Polycarbonite/ Etc ) on the front end of a RC Boat to control Porposing? Just a thought.

There is one for UL-1, it is helpful for that boat but it is an aid to prevent flip overs. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-UL-1-Air-Foil
Your hull is known to have that and the cure would be to blue print the rear sponson ride pads and carefully adjust the height of your strut. You need to do research under Miss Geico, lots of info there.
Too many boats, not enough time...

I just added a wing (Canard) to the front of my Q-Sport Hydro. It was on the small size (as I also want to run it as a P-sport). The problem was that it tended to kite on 6 cells. I added the wing to prevent that. First try yesterday was a success. The wing angle is adjustable and is critical to the running of the boat.

That's almost the exact same thing I told him in his other thread. Lol

OP if you want a super easy fix for the wah wah wah blues, I have a set of brand new trim tabs that fit your boat perfectly.

Several years ago I built a VS-1 for P-Ltd OPC racing. Porpoise city. Not yet experienced in hull/setup tuning I experimented with a rather large set of wings (UL-1 tailfins) to see if they would keep the nose down. , Huge as they were, they did nothing.

After further testing with other boats my conclusion, subject to debate by more learned minds, is that aero devices on the nose are ineffective at lower speeds. At some greater velocity they may have some effect but I can't say what these speeds are . None of the SAW Competition rigs that reach upwards of 140 mph have any aero doodads on them if that means anything.

                kfxguy,
I elongated the strut's hole today. I also ordered a small .050 Lexan sheet today from my old company Grainger. Will fabricate a foil, and try it if strut adj. doesn't help. Thanks for trim tabs offer, but will hold off on those for now.

The wing has a great effect on the lift or push. My first run with the wing I had it at to great of a down angle. It literately pushed the boat under water at high speed. Correcting the wing with less push solved the problem. However, I still need more experience running the boat under different water conditions. One thing for sure the wing, when used as intended, acts as a brake and will slow the boat. But, finishing rather than blowing over is better than a small loss of speed.

Granted, it is initially a little on the unbelievable side.
                    So, Test it.

Do a Before & After GPS Test, keeping everything exactly the same as possible.
(same lipos, prop, no adjustments and so on.)

The AirFoil is Specifically designed (Computer Assisted) to address the characteristics found in the Aquacraft UL-1.

                    Bottom Line
3mph Speed Increase (minimum) and Improved Handling, for $20 bucks (Free to you, shipped. ) and 3 minutes to install.

Please, let it speak for its self - Test it.

Thanks for the info jantagg, just picked up my Lexan sheets, will try a improvised foil first just to see if it even remotely works. By the way, what is the overall width of your foil you purchased? OSE is slow to respond to my question of this.

I made the wing. It is 2 inches wide. Look carefully at the shape.
