    need help choosing motors...

I want to make a change in motor on my 26" mini rivercat. Yea, it fast and is running g just like I want but it's a pain in the frigging butt to put batteries in and out of it. I'm running two 3s 5000mah 50c packs. It's a tight fit. So I want to run 4s in it instead. The catch is I want it to be about the same speed. I have a 1512 1800kv motor in it right now. I tried a 1512 2650kv in it on 4s and it's a good bit slower. So....what would have the nuts the 1512 1800kv does but a higher kv on 4s? Does any such motor exist? Keep in ming it can't really be much longer than the 1512. That's the catch.

Next. I burned up the 1800kv proboat motor in my impulse 31. I want another 1800kv motor to go in it that might have a little more torque. Maybe throw my 1512 1800kv in it? Might be too much motor for the stock 80 amp proboat esc tho? Or should I just another stock motor in it. I want about 50 mph out of it.

    Any help would be appreciated

In theory the 1512/2650 should give comparable speeds given the same prop. I'm surprised it is slower, it may need a slightly different prop. But it will be a little less torquey, the 1515/1.5 D is the best choice. Remember that you will pull about 50 percent more amps running 4S so run time will be less.

If you want to keep the 80 amp ESC then stick with the stock motor and play with props and setup for more speed. You should be able to reach 50 with good packs and the right prop.

Thanks Jay. Now that you say that about the 1515, I remember the 1515 neu version was a little more compact than the 1515 castle so it may fit. Hopefully the mamba monster 2 esc will hold up doing that. I guess there's only one way to find out.

I guess your right, the stock motor is likely the best way to go. Guess I'll have to find one.

Lol, quick fix. I ended up cutting the rails where the hatch goes a little farther back. Batts go in easy now. Blah. Guess I should have done that from the get go.
