Fine design marine wrong motor help

I just got a boat for FDM it was suppose to have a TP 100x40 7500 watt 1440kv motor and a 300 amp ESC. When I checked it out it has a black diamond nemesis 495/4y 1450 kv motor and a 300amp ESC. Did I get screwed ? Or is the nemesis a better motor?

FD used to put their private labels on motors like Leopard ( Gold Nemesis) and TP ( Black Diamond) , if my memory is correct, this was the line before they started to sell TP Motor as TP brand. I like to think that this is the older TP motor. Don't hold me to it though...

Here is an old F/S thread, post #38...

i talked to FD and he told me that the nemesis was a older brand of Tp motors and that the set up i have will run 86mph on 8S lipo. the nemesis is a 1440kv 6200 watt 495-4y . the newer tp motor that he told me he was going to install was a tp 7500 watt 1450KV 3y. he is still adamant about this set up running on 10s lipo with no problems but he did sent me a bigger prop x448 sharpen and balanced. do you think the different motor will help or hurt my goal of reaching 100mph?

tlandauer is correct. I have one of Chris Fine's Nemesis Gold motors (Leopard) in a Sprint Cat that he "built". Long story about that, but at least the motor is holding up well. Black Diamond motors were his private branded TP motors.

the 1440kv will be better on 8s for sure. The bigger motor the tp 4070 can come with an 8mm shaft, which is awesome.

I would press him for the 4070 with 8mm shaft. In theory it might go 100, staying on the water is a different story. I have multiple boats that run in the mid 90s, we usually bring about 4 of them to the lake at once. 100 is a lofty goal, get to 80 first.

You might be surprised as 80 isn't exactly slow, building a boat that runs at 100 and survives multiple crashes at 100 is more of an art than anything else.
