    Scorpion 4035 800kv cooling/ timing

    On the scorpion 4035 800kv do I have to water cool it some how or not plus what should I run timing at. It will be in an 1/8 hydroplane on 8s setup 2 4s1p in series. Also if I need cooling anybody make a cooling mount for this motor thanks for looking

    They seem to like 5-7 degrees timing. Only motor I run in 1/8 scale. Williams Racing Products makes some very nice mounts, with or without cooling. http://southriverrcboats.com/ but Jim is remodeling his site at the moment. The only thing you can cool is the front bearing, but with an 1/8 scale, there isn't a lot of free air in the hull for cooling. I've run them with and without, I guess it's more 'peace of mind' for me to cool them, at least a bit.

      The US Scorpion distributor recommends 15 degrees advance and 8 MHz PWM. My 4035/800 ran great on 10S with these settings. I did not use water cooling but did have a small fan circulating air towards it in a gas catamaran. The Scorpions will tolerate higher temps than inrunners but the bearings do need regular oiling. It is a great sport motor and a good racing motor in "spec" T classes. Too bad they are discontinued....
