    Strut Bushing floating?

    Good day all
The strut bushing as in picture - I have read somewhere that it must float, can someone please explain?
On my aquacraft revolt, the bushing lip are flush with the rear (prop) side of the strut and are sticking out slightly on the front of the strut. The bushing are moving (Floating?) around inside the strut when moving the front of the bushing.
But the bushing are difficult to move in and out of the strut (forward to rear).
Must the bushing also move easily forward to rearward inside the strut?
    Thanks all

the shaft tube goes thru strut to about 1/16" short of the back of the strut. so when you put bushing in the strut, the bushing is flush with the back of the strut. and , yes the bushing should slide easily in the shaft tube. if it doesnt, you need to polish the bushing so it slides easily. make sure no burrs inside brass tubing.

Okay, must the brass bushing fitment inside the strut be loose enough so that the bushing may also spin with the flex shaft inside the strut?

Yes it must be able to spin on the shaft, and spin with the shaft, this is what is meant by floating.

As said, it should be able to turn, but after you put grease in it, and if you blip the motor ( I do not recommend bench testing that though) , you still may not see it turn ( not that fast anyway).
What you should see is a bit of free play ( very little, just enough for you to turn by hand) in the strut bore when you insert the floating bushing WITHOUT any grease /lubricant.

I didn't understand what you mean by it sticks out in the front of the strut, the whole length of the floating bushing is shorter than the bore of the strut, the front of the strut mates to the stuffing brass tube.

            Thanks guys.
Think the problem with my bushing is the flanged part on the end of the bushing are a tiny bit too big. The bushing must be removed with force from the strut. Going to lightly sand it with very fine grit paper.
