A lot of cats like to have the bottom of the strut anything from say on the table to 4-5mm of the table.

why would you raise the strut from flush? what symptoms would require raising it?

Yes Martin is correct but basically you will need eventually few strut adjustments to correct the riding attitude of the boat depending on the CG.The DF cats (36"and 41")I built to a friend worked good with flat struts so I guess you can start with them laying on the table and take a special attention to the COG!.Gill

the 37 inch daytona i built is running 64 mph with a flat strut on calm water. leopard 4082 1600 kv t-180 esc on 6-s with m445 prop. is that a good speed? would it be worth my time to blue-print the hull bottom?

I don't know too much about cat speeds but seems ok.It's always good improve hulls so the effort pays off when correctly done.Gill
