Dual motor setup - wiring question?

When you have a dual motor setup in a boat (cat in my situation) and you're running 2 ESC's with 2 same sized Lipo packs, should you wire them together, or 1 pack to each ESC?

So, to try an ASCII art illustrate:

    [ESC] [LIPO]
    \ /
    X
    / \
    [ESC] [LIPO]

    or

    [ESC] -- [LIPO]

    [ESC] -- [LIPO]

Keep them as two completely independent units. One battery powers one ESC which powers one motor. In this case, I would also be using a Rx pack instead of using a built in BEC.

Either way works fine, just keep the wiring as short as practical. And check your racing sanctioning body to be sure you're legal.

If you are racing or running trials in the IMPBA the battery source must be wired together in a multi motor set up. Don't ask me why. I'm only the messenger. If you are running NAMBA or for fun, I'd keep it simple.
