    SF Pro+ 220 - Slow Circles

Last nights run was a little weird. I have a SF Pro+ 220 in a genesis with a Leo 4082 1600kv on 6s and a prather 220. It was going very well, running very fast, good setup, when all of a sudden it started doing very slow circles in the middle of the lake. It stopped responding completely and I had to jump in the fishing boat to recover it. It just did slow circles until I got to it. Even as I approached it I got no response to the remote. Is it overheated, out of range, low volts, or something else? The RX is waterproofed with scotch weld and I threw it in my revolt immediately after with no issue. I thought this esc would just shutdown if it lost tx. Also, how hot is too hot for it? After Sundays run, It had hit something like 165 degrees.

I apologize if this answer is in other posts. I searched for about 15 minutes before posting this.

Are you using a receiver battery pack or the BEC? If you are using a receiver pack, the ESC probably isn't the issue since it should not effect the rudder servo. How long did you run it before it died? What was the pack voltage after the run and what's your LVC set to in the esc? Soft cut off or hard?

I shoot for temps in the low 130's and no more than 140 on the ESC body and 160 on the caps.

I didn't check battery voltage and I've already charged them. I'll do that if it happens again. I did check the settings and it's set to hard cut off, although I didn't check the LVC, but it's the default setting. According to the logger it hit 75C which is 167 F. I guess I must have a cooling problem. Amps hit 170. I'm not 100% sure how long my run was, but it was under 5 minutes for sure.

If I had to guess, I'd say you have a Rx problem. ESC wouldn't effect servo control and if it was a servo it wouldn't effect ESC

I take it you disabled the onboard esc? From experience I know you'll burn up the controller if you're using it along with an external supply.
