Cooling the Mystery 200 amp ESC

I have just ordered one of these ESC, and I was wondering what everyone was doing to cool them. I have seen a couple with the electric fans, but has anyone tried watercooling them?

There are many ways to go about watercooling. Depending on the spaceing between the cooling fins you can put alum tubing between the fins if they are too close machineing out ribs may work. Some guys make cooling plates from brass with brass tubeing soldered on them. The cooling plates can be of good use if the fet boards are layered and you wanna get cooling to them.

Where did you order the esc from???? Dave

I air cooled one and water cooled one
I ended up just cutting out one fin with the dremel on each side of cooling plate to make enough room for the cooling tube and then stuck it in with the heat conducting dp 270

The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

ETTI is making some nice flat coolers in 2 sizes. Allan at Astec Models is stocking them. Maybe we can prod Steven into carrying them as well.

I ordered an Etti from Astec today. Castle has two of my 240's ( for six weeks now)and after a follow up call today they advised that they 'may' be in production in a couple of weeks so it wld be a few more weeks before I got them back. Now thats customer service! I wish Steve V. and the other suppliers that actually know what 'service' means cld provide a quality high amp esc.

This past weekend my other 120 crapped out on me in the sv. not sure what the problem is but oh well. They already have one of my 120s now they will be getting my other 120 and a 240.

is it just me or do the hydra`s tend to blow up much easyer then they used to ?
my hydra 240 blew up on a drifter S. 10XL and 5s lipo. diddent even last a minute. of course no warranty as it was used on 5s lipo ( before they changed the polecy. but still they managed to charge me the $150 instead of the $90 that was before the warranty change. funny how that worked out in thair atvantage both ways)
but even more strange is it that my mystery 200 handled the exsact same setup for months now. the mystery controller diddent burn until i got it wet in a different boat.

yes they do. but a few months ago they did the same but had a little line in the manual were they saied that the warranty was not aplying if you used more then 4s lipo.
with my luck they changed that just after i sendt mine in after it burned. so i was not under warranty and still got to pay the new price for repairs.

The only warning I see in my manual is that warranty will be void if timing setting #4 is used..."Most smoke..no warranty"
I received this yesterday from Tower
