My water jacket slips and leaks

Brand new, named brand on a 39mm motor. Put a little oil on the orings and motor case. Then I wipe away excess.
If I hold up he motor by the water jacket the motor slides out.
I'm about to silicon it in place and add a bead around both ends. If that doesn't work I'll drop n a nitro .67.....

Anyone else have these issues and a fix?

    Thanks,
    Bill

All the time, somtimes when the oil dries out , the "O" ring becomes less slippery, but why take a chance, I always use silicone sealant when I run into this situation, you can do it neatly and won't affect too much aesthetic looks.
Too many boats, not enough time...

      Bill,

Make sure the O-rings didn't get displaced from the "groove" in the can. That can happen some times. I am not sure how your determining that it's leaking (I am not suggesting that it's not). I usually fill my mouth with water and pull the cooling line at the rudder and blow water through the system. doing that sometimes allows you to see the trouble area.

If it slides out that easy you have the wrong size jacket. I.E. 40mm jacket 39mm motor, see if you can find some fatter Orings or get a 39mm jacket. This guy can hook you up, Dave's a great guy.. http://www.hrc-mfg.com/index.html

The jacket is new but I still like the silicon idea.

          Thanks,

            Mike,

            Can and rings are new.

I always water test the new stuff. I use an old 24 oz fuel tank and fill with water. I use a Boris flow meter to create pressure and water flow. Works great.

            Thanks
            Bill

Says it was for Neu 1527 and they're 39mm. Thanks for the lead.

if the jacket doesn't leak who cares if the motor will slide out. mine does too but it doesn't leak at all.
