    TPpower 4060 5D technical data

At TPpower USA site the data parameters of this motor says MAX Power(W): 6200...for me sounds strange all this power for a 39,5mm X 88mm motor. In the other hand I see MAX Power at TPpower site(China) 4200W that sounds reasonable. What do you think of this numbers? Thanks Gill

its an overly optimistic, inflated estimate.

just like most of the cheap motors.

Please notice that the TP Power China's website shows the old data that haven't been updated for more than 2 years. The data on TP Power USA is from the engineer 's newest test.
The max power 6200W is tested at the max rpm with 10 second run time. Actually we mark the power rating at conservative side, and the absolute limit of a particular application highly depends on the cooling condition and run time.
The F5B guys have run our TP4030 motor up to 6000W with success.

            Gill,

It's hard to gain any sort of knowledge from a manufacturer's power rating. Each manufacturer rates them as they see fit, there is no standard. Modern motors can pull an extreme amount of power, but of course that doesn't always mean that they're operating in an efficient range or at a power level that can be sustained with reliability (a relative term in our hobby). I find it reasonable that one could pull 6200W with a motor that size, but that doesn't make it the best motor for a 6200w setup. I have pulled over 15,000w with the 44mm Lehner 2260 for short periods, which makes 6200w seem not all that unlikely. To compare, a similar sized Neu motor is rated at substantially lower power than the TP 4060, but regarded by most to be more efficient/powerful.

The only insight I think wattage ratings may give you is the ability to compare motors from the same manufacturer, but even then this is flawed. A Neu 1530 is rated the same as a Neu 2215, but I would not expect them to perform the same.

Thanks for the replies as I see very convenient clarify this point for people that just buy things based on numbers.Gill

Gill btw have you seen tp now makes a 1527 looking motor, called the 4070 with 8mm shaft.

Some people have had problems with rotors unwrapping on the 4060 motor, but with 8mm shaft I imagine things are a bit different and might hold up better. Either way this motor looks cool

Yes the 4070 looks interesting for the price and range but let's see how it works as people start testing it.What I can say about TP right now is that the 4060 in my rigger shows greater potential than the previous Leopard with lower temps and 2miles faster so time will tell more. Thanks Gill

Gill, I have a 4070 1770kv on it's way, I'm putting it in my Q-Mono on 6s I'll be pushing it pretty hard so we'll see how it goes.

                      Hi Gill!!

                      I have a 4060 5D that i have tested on 6S and it took 4600w at a "first" test with a 7x7" F3D CF prop that i used.
Second test my ESC was a ball with fire :)..........
                      Didn`t like over 220A.
                      But good value/performance.

Hi Anders glad to hear from you here..seems that some nitro guys like us are gettin lazy and sticking to fe models.kkk.....My 4060 5D is on a saw rigger (6S) too but with a T180 modified and with the right props it's holding good those high amps.Agreed about cost/benefit and let's see how it goes.Flraptpr this is a big block and I'm curious to hear what will be your progress.Cheers Gill

I have been into nitro for 30years and now FE is getting interesting with the develoment last 5-10 years.
Need something "new" to do :).
I`m running thether cars now also, including Electric.
Looking into a JAE 21 FE with a TP4050 motor.

Nice.Thether cars Fe must be awesome..any link to wacth? My first fe boat was a Jae Fe with a Leopard 4082(2000kv) on 6S and since that I'm getting more and more involved with fE.With a 4050 you will be satisfied too but take care as there is not too much room to work with this size motor.Take a look to my page to see what I did to fit everything in it:http://www.grsboats.com.br/?p=5991
