    Aquastar 200 ESC

So, I decided to take a chance on one of these.....

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...rless_ESC.html

So, it does say they are only to be used with 2 pole motors unless you upgrade the firmware.......
"Note: Standard software is suitable for 2 pole motors. Customers using 4 pole or higher should use the 4 pole firmware set under files tab and set acceleration to low."

So, to do that I need one of these (out of stock)....

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=51180

So, when its back in stock, I'll get one and update the firmware.....

So, I did by this ESC "used" and other than missing the decals, it appears to have never even had connectors soldered on it.....

So, I soldered connectors on it and it operated fine using an AQ 1800 Kv motor (just to see if it powers up)....

So, this thing is massive! See pic with Turnighy 180 for reference......

So, for the $35.00 I spent on it (shipping included), we will see what eventually happens..

One of the Durham Regional boaters uses one and it works on a 4 pole motor. Don't know if it was updated though. Good luck, not much ventured but, more to be gained if it works for you.

So.....buttons on your underwear. Zippers aren't in style.

How do you know for sure it's a 200? The 130 has the same case.

Similar, not the same. I've had 130's in my hand and seen the 200 up close in person, heat sinks are similar in shape but fins are different and so are cooling tube location.
The 130 is encased in a tray with conformal and this is not. If I were to make my best guess, the 200 is using possibly same Fets but, different software/firmware and or controller board. The 130's run well as per Bill Fordham. The 130's have smaller gauge wires too.

Lets let John do the smoke test, hopefully it works well. Personally I'd never touch one of those. I'd rather have a SF240 or something. The 130's can be had for $130 if you know where to look.

It's possible it's the same as the old Hextronic USB but, they'd be hard to find too. Ebay has nothing.
