New build ????'s

I am starting a new build, the hull will be a 37 inch mono made by Herb Stewart.
I am planning on running twin Feigao 8xl's.


My questions are ? What is the vote on the "Hi power esc's??
Will they handle 16 cells?
What has the 150amp model been tested to? (amps/volts)
Can Steven get them?


This will be a fun build with much custom hardware made. (Steerable arneson style drives) a twin 540 size motor mount, to fit 5" rails.

I vote for two fan cooled 200 amp HiModel esc's that are $62.50. They will work on 16 cells for each 8XL.

i am running two of these with great results. one is just air cooled the other is encapsulated with the dp270 thermal epoxy.
temps are exceptable except for the encapsulated one. after run continues to build up temp while air cooled (no fan) remains same temp and starts to cool off.
both running on 16 cell ni-mhs which can't produce the power needed anymore for my twin cat sea terror.

yeah... of course they can produce the power.
we have been running NIMH for ever and they have worked.... what do you think. brushless only became good when lipo came out
? no nimh are good and still hold its own. lipo is just more advanced

I have rethought my plans for this hull at his time. I feel 1 8xl will push her just fine ,this hull is lighter than my titan which is running an 8xl just fine...
As for the steerable arneson.. hmmmmm? Tho i will do these at some time in the future. Does Steven sell the 200 amp version or are they best goteen from another source. If from another pm me the info out of respect for Steven. Tho I wou;d rather give him my money than send it elsewhere.. Steven is TOPS in my book. The Best f/e supplier. Hands down!!!

the cells are getting hot.
feiago 10xl on transmission geared 1.2-1 13 pounds twin drive use x447,x450, cmds 45, l & r see gps speeds from 35 to 51 mph. amp draw is a whopping 92 amps on the x450s.
used to have the 3300 which are rare now.
the weight drains the cells quick,imo.
what needs to happen is to go direct drive with same amount of cells (16) each motor and drop prop size to 42mm.
so if i have to buy anymore packs, why not just go lipos. i have read they hold the voltage bettr and longer with amp draws nearing 100amps.
true they cost an arm and a leg!

I originally figured i would need to 8xls but after thinking about i this hull is lighter than my 29 in mono so why not try 1 8xl and keep the weight dont. I was hinking a 442 maybe a 642 and watch the temps. i had plans on water cooling and adding a fan also, nice to keep the air moveing inside the hull..
i also plan on doing some really sick mods to a prop i have that i will never use... lol Ill mod the prop according to what the other props do...

I have never run a kb. And personally unless I sent it to someone to go over it and do all the mods i wouldnt bother. At best it seems its a 50/50 shot of getting a decent one. I run feigao my twin cat has twin 9xls and my single runs an 8xl
