These boats are successful, thats why I'm spending the time to upgrade it and in the process share.
Mine runs and handles splendid, I just can't deal with the taking in water. I won with it first race against smaller boats.
Hello Bill.
As Rumdog said flush tabs don't work cause they behave like extention of the hull.
You have to plase them 1mm above. This way they work only if it is needed.
My pursuit came with stinger and i had to seal the gap with sikaflex 221 black silicone.I like the strut you made.
My strut is mounted center..
Most every SAW mono I've seen has flush mounted plates.
I've also had a boat with them above that ran awesome. Tuning option I concur..
Moving forward with my strut upgrade, I shimmed in the proper size stuffing tube, lined it with teflon, then shrink wrapped it.
I was able to use the stock tube support by simply shimming it with fuel tubing also acting as a vibration dampener..
One might be concerned about such small bearings, but I run CNC aluminum props which are feather light, and ballanced a bit more precise than I've ever seen achieved with a beryllium prop thats using a manual ballancer.
Digital on the other hand is a different story : )
I've gotten away with using 3/16 brass props supported by 4mm bearing strut..
Bill, do you sharpen those cnc props you show in the picture? ?The one pictured looks like it has a blunt leading edge... I sharpen mine, waaay better.

Absolutely. I shave every one. The one pictured is brand new. I decided to use all new parts for this project. She'll be sharp as a razor before being raced : )
Love the wire drive, so clean looking, I like and admire the fact that you are still using the little wood support, shows the resourcefulness you have! That fuel tubing was a great idea as well. I guess I forgot, with the wire drive and the liner, what dia. of stuffing tube are you using?

I lost my calipers, but will Definitely get back to you on that : )
I like to utilize as much of the rtr integrity as possible many times.
Thanks : )
She hit the water, and can I tell you guys she picked up at LEAST 5mph? This mod ROCKS! Getting rid of that bloody drive that comes with it is a MUST. Making the trim tabs flush helped a BUNCH as well.
Here's a vid : )
