well I'm guessing it was soldered? i can't tell...

there appear to be two ways (unless I'm missing one) that we do these. either glue, or solder. you need to determine which method was used. if its been soldered you can resolder. I'm not sure about reglueing tho. never tried it.

It looks like nothing was done , no signs of solder or glue , what's the best way of cleaning it and what kind of solder . it shows on ose they glue . but not sure what to use to clean everything with .

i usually use some thinner or alcohol. when i used to solder i used silver solder, but I'm not sure if its entirely nessecary. sand the shaft and clean clean clean. i use a small round file and mare up the inside of the stub shaft, then clean clean clean with qtip. then solder or glue.

i feel that glue is far easier, but takes longer. solder can be a bit tricky to take sometimes. but cleaning is super important in either case

The glue is 638 loctite. You can get it here on ose. Clean parts very well, score inside of shaft and section of flex shaft that will enter shaft. Drip glue into shaft and onto flex. Insert flex slowly and rotate pushing in and out a little as you do this. Continue until flex is seated. It's a good idea to mark flex for depth in case you get a bit of a hydraulic lock inserting it. Make sure it's fully seated and the glue has gotten everywhere. Turn you oven on ti it's low setting and Bake for a half hour or so. Let dry for a few more days in a warm place and then your ready to use. Goodluck.
Or you can just order a new one for about $20
