WaterProof Rx Box WON'T FIT..Any tips??? REVOLT 30/Traxxas box

I can't figure out how to fit this traxxas WP Rx Box into my Revolt....

I guess I'll have to remove the bulky stock battery tray?...

Anyone have any suggestions?

Open the reciever housing up & pop out the circuit board. Wrap the servo plug prongs with masking tape to keep them cleen, and give the circuit board 4-6 kotes with spray on plasti-dip to make it watertight.

I plasti-dip my Rx's & I have had boats submerge, yet the Rx's were just fine after air drying .....

Yeah that's a good idea. I have a MR200 that is supposed to be coated with some fancy/schmancy Spektrum coating. So that's not enough protection then, I guess...?...

I'm headed to grab some PlastiDip spray now, but just wondering....

Welcome to OSE .
We know all about the marine receivers (Rx's), and the answer is no, that's not enough.
II forget what that stuff is called off the top of my head, but it's basically just a coating of dielectric grease. its not waterproof it's water resistant. I plasti-dip all my Rx's & it works great.

As Kevin stated above, some guys fill the bottom half of the receiver housing with 5 minute epoxy, Set the circuit bpard in the epoxy then cover the top of the circuit board what's more 5 minute epoxy to make it water tight. I have never tried this but you do not want to cover DIP switches or servo plugs. look at all the boats in the boat building area: I don't think you'll find a single receiver box.

Thanks GS...I have some 5min. Epoxy, but I think I'm going to use the Plasti-Dip, because it's re-enterable(I'm guessing)...?

I use CRC soft seal on the receiver cricuit board, then into a balloon. Dont have issues with receivers and water.

Man, that's old skool. We gave it up years ago cause it caused more headaches with condensation than it was worth .....

Balloons are Ok if you take the receiver out after every run, otherwise condensate finds its way in everytime

I used Clear Plasti-Dip on the circuit board. Seemed to work GREAT! My first capsizing, the hatch tape wasn't sealed completely, and the boat had a lot of water in it after that crash. Even though it was completely covered in water, the receiver worked like a champ. I'm SOLD!

(Note2Self)...The hatch tape will always be double-checked for a tight seal from now on.

See, I told you so
had a villain lose signal on a late Nov. day, the wind was blowin' about 25mph & h20 temps were 33°. The wind blew my villain into a thick stand of reeds. It took on water and submarined until there was only 2" of the bow bobbing in the water.

I had to abandon the boat for the night and come back the following morning with my pastors kayak to try for rescue attempt. I wasn't even sure if the boat was going to be there, or it was going to be on the bottom of the lake by then, Sure enough it was right there where it was when I left. The plasti-dip on the servo was a Lil' jelled, After I took it out and let it air dry the damn thIng still worked. the only thing that ended up dead in that boat was My Hitrch hs-645mg servo.
