    Motor upgrade for an Apparition?

    Hi

I have seen a video on youtube of a single 1900kv motor apparition doing 63mph. I was wondering is there a leopard motor or T.P motor that will match it or even go faster? I have a Turnigy Marine 180A Brushless Boat ESC and I have some 3s lipo batteries that I was running as 6s on my standard motor 3s per side I also have upgraded the flex cable to a 3/16th and running a X442 Octura prop.Would like to just go fast I will only be using it for speed runs. Any advice really would appreciate.

    Cheers Paul

A video on you tube...Your asking a loaded question. Take some time and look at the boat build section. There's a daytona/ genesis on the first page getting his boat ready to go fast. Your apparition is also known as the rivercat(carbon fiber version), search that boat and look at the wild things they are doing to them. All have been strengthened, usually carbon fiber inlay, transom support/reinforcment and a bulk head or two upfront. Taking a boat from 40 mph to 60 mph increases the impact force many many times over your current stock setup. You can drop a tp3640 series 1900kv straight in and go but the end result is very likely to be an unhappy one. The damage at 60 plus mph on a stock boat when it crashes will likely be severe, you may lose the boat. Despite what your reading here I say go for it! Spend the time reading the build posts, asking questions and building your boat to achieve your goal. It really is a good hull design and capable of very high speeds. A very nice rivercat was just finished on here a few weeks ago. You may have to go back 2-3 pages to find it. It's an awesome boat and yours can be built to take the crazy speeds it will achieve. That should really get you going! There are plenty of guys here that can give you the details you need. I just wanted to emphasize the idea that it's a whole boat thing and not just an engine thing when looking to go real fast. You could go faster than the you tube video that inspired you. Good luck.

Hi well I ran my boat and cracked 103.1 KPH which I am really happy with. I went with the same motor Turnigy SK3 Fandrive - 3659-1900kv and Trunigy Marine 180A Brushless Boat ESC and Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 65~130C Lipo to make 6s and a OSE sharpened and balanced X442, I also am running the rcboatbitz dual rudder pickup and there rudder offset bracket, my motor temps and esc are only around the 42 - 43 degrees Celsius with running two separate lines for the motor and esc .
I then put a cnc 48mm x 1.4 prop and blew the 3/16th flex cable. I have a new flex cable now and will try the 48mm prop again to see if I can get anymore speed out of it and I also am looking at upgrading to the leopard 3674 2200KV to try and get some more speed. My hull did crack on hull joining on one of the nose I have now fixed it and am ready to go .I ask a mate to video it on my phone as the wifey wont let me get a gopro at the moment.

Not sure but I cant seem to be able to upload my photos at work so I will try when I get home

I have the apparition and I run that same setup as posted on YouTube, 1900kv edf motor, turnigy marine 180a esc, running on 6s I got just over 62mph on my first run, after some fine tuning, I got 68mph.

It's a beast on that combo, and super reliable for me so far. I flipped her a few times, so far she's held up without a scratch, except I lost my hatch...

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to pull that 48mm prop without burning something up. Too much load, 45mm at the very most with that set up depending on how the prop is prepped.

This is my setup on my 62mph run. It was the first time on the water, forgot to add some zip ties on my water lines and the boat filled up with water, smoked the airplane esc I was running, that's when I swapped over to the turnigy marine esc. BTW, I'm running an X442 prop, s/b and detounged

I have the carbon fiber fightercat version. Castle 2200kv motor. Fightercat 101 esc. X642 s/b prop. I haven't gps it yet but I can tell you it's pretty dang fast. It'll easily walk my cheetah that does 62mph. Here's a couple pics of it.

                32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) was

They won't hold together to long at those speeds, maybe you'll get a lucky one. Congrats on 60mph. A 2200kv running 48840 unloaded rpm will end bad unless setup is perfect. Only good for 2 passes down the lake. Heat will build in the degrees per second so watch it. Lots of flotation! Cracked the hull and blew a cable and your already moving up in motor? Keep us posted.

Reinforce the boat while you still have one!

Well I have tried to up load photos with no joy. My temps are sweet I have ran it flat out for more then six times up and down or pond and it stays cool, Yeah the front of the hull cracked from some good flip overs that was due to the wind getting up in the afternoon. I is a very light constructed hull and my friends genesis is the same I am sure they are polyester hulls and extremely thin.
I have plenty of flotation good old pool noodles I run them in my nitro boats for years, I must say I am liking the brushless boats as they are clean and quiet.

Nice carbon fibre boat kfxguy that's a nice looking hull. I think I might have to secretly buy one with the wife knowing.

I did forget to mention I have made two carbon fibre battery trays and used carbon fibre to hold my stuffing tube in place. this is a photo with my cnc 48mm prop I found that the 48mm gave my a lot more lift but its not worth blowing the flex cable so I will take it off and put the X442.

That's a nice clean looking build. I have the same gps, it's turning out to be a great unit. You've got that boat moving right along!

You need to rotate the water jacket so the nipples are closer to the top, the position their in at the side your only half filling the jacket with water before it exits. For such little money the SK3 motors are excellent.
