    Newb Help on Boats

I had a few questions to ask you all before I go and buy a good boat. Right off the bat I must say that I tend to go a little overboard when I start a hobby, so for the first time in my life I’m trying to be a little bit ‘selective’ and maybe a bit more informed before I jump in the mud pit.

About 9 months ago I got into flying Helicopters and WOW talk about crapping many, MANY colors in your shorts… I’m still having a blast. After a month or so I found out that I should have gone to the 500 class vs. the 450… but hey live and learn.

Over the weekend I decided to by a boat to play around with in the pool. I bought the ‘Apache 24’ and was blown away at the speed this little thing produced. I live right next to a lake and now that I have a bit of the new bug in me I’m wanting a little more.

Now the point of posting this is because I’d like to get input from people in the know about where they would go and after reading enough of your feedback I’ll be able to make a much better decision vs. just doing the whole hog again.

I do love the look of the ‘cat’ class boats, not to say the ‘v’ is bad; just really dig the look of the cats. Anyway I just about bought a BJ26, but it appears to have some turning issues, and requires a bit of tweaking to get it running prime (which I must admit SUCKS). I don’t mind learning and tweaking (hell I have a helicopter and that’s ALL ABOUT TWEAKIN), but I’d like to get a boat that’s good to go from that start, than slowly add the tweaks as I go.

So first off is there a Better version of the BJ26? Is there another manufacturer that I should look into? What would you buy if you where getting into boats but didn’t want to do the buy ‘3’ before you find the right one?

Thanks for any advice and help that you could send my way.

Well there is the black jack 26 which is an RTR boat, or you can look at other hulls like the Aeromarine Mean Machine. Its a much better boat. however, if you are just looking for something to play with (not race) the black jack will be fine. If you are just playing on the lake then turning really shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you that does help. Ya I may not race it, but I'd also like to have options later on should I change my mind.

Options are always better when there's more than one.
