BBY rigger setup, motor and ESC help...

Ok, let me fisrt start out by saying the last boat I owned was over 10 years ago. It was a Prather spitfire II w/ 7.5cc k&b outboard. Now it's time to play with a rigger again, and this time I want to go with a little smaller Hull and electric. I purchased a BBY 2cell Rigger kit (27"), and now it's time to start looking at all the other parts.. I purchased the 27" hull cause I also fly r/c heli's and have many 3s 2500mah packs. So here is my thought, and I could be way off (thats why i'm posting) I plan on running 2 3s 2500 packs. What motor and ESC would give me the most speed for this setup?? (cost is a factor) I was thinking of going with a feigao 9XL with a CC Hydra 120. Is there some other way of going that would be better??? Also, what about running the lipos in series? or would my runtime only be about 1 min. Thanks for all the help.

I don't recall off hand but I don't think Castle will warranty a Hydra 120 that has been run on 4S or more, I could be wrong here. Just as a recomendation I would use a 3S2P battery arrangment with the CC120 and and a motor with a RPM/Volt of about 2700. The first choice would be a Neu 1512 1Y. The second choice would be a Feigao 7xl. The 7xl is a 2382 rpm/V motor but I have tried the 6xl's and they just don't have the torque and over heat quickly.

thanks Joe, any idea on what kind of run time / speed i should see with the 1512 1y, using 3s2p (2500's)?? I'm just worried that the batterys would hold up to that...

What is your battery's C rating?

With the Neu motor and a conservative propeller you should be running 55-60mph for about 4 minutes with little risk of heat build up or battery damage. A maximum oval racing speed set up, about 65mph, would reduce your safe running time to about 1 1/2 minutes. You could possibly prop down to about 45mph and get 10 minutes or so. These are just some basic expectations.
