Genesis component selection?

Hi guys, I'm in the planning stages of doing a semi-build on a stock Genesis hull. Its the one that comes with the 3674 motor rated at 2075 kv, motor mount, drive hardware and rudder.

I plan on making this a dedicated 6s setup and would like to get it into the 60's while keeping things reliable. I plan on removing the 2075 kv motor as its too high for 6s for my liking.

Thinking about getting a Leopard 3674, or perhaps even a 4074 motor in the 1600 kv range. For an esc, Im thinking a Sea King 180 will do the job well.

I will upgrade to a one piece flex shaft if this boat does not already come with one. This leaves prop selection. I have a Prather S215 that has been thinned, S&B and cupped. Not sure if this will be too much prop, or not enough.

Feel free to post ideas for this hull. Btw, I would like to keep it as a single drive.

There are tons of posts on here about Genesis/Daytona setups, also tons of youtube videos with great comments. I'm no expert as I'm only 1 summer into the hobby, but I've done a lot of reading about the genesis. I started with one last summer. It looked to me like most people run a 4082 motor and 1600kv or less on 6s. The x642, m447 and x645 seem to be common props with this setup. The SK 180 is said to be pretty rock solid, I ran one all last summer with the stock genesis motor on 6s with a x440/3. I had no problems and I ran it several times a week through multiple sets of batteries. Although, as you said the kv is unsafe for 6s. For this summer, I've reinforced the hull with CF because they say the stock hull is very weak, I upgraded to a Leo 4082 1600kv and the Swordfish Pro+ 220 ESC. I also picked up a bunch of different props. I only upgraded ESC because it has logging so I can watch the amp draw when I try different props. My goal is also 60+, hopefully with reliability. It sounds like the seaking 180 would run this set up too, but it's not much more to get something with logging.

Thanks for the insight! I have been scouring the net for setups, and they are all over the place. Lots of videos on youtube, but it seems the drivers are either quite poor, or have poorly setup boats. I figured the best advice would come directly from OSE.

Do you notice much torque roll, or handling issues with the 4082 motor? It seems the narrow Genesis hull might be a bit difficult hull with that much power.

I'm stuck waiting for the ice to thaw before I can try the new setup. I had torque roll with the stock motor but it didn't really seem to matter. It just rolled a bit of the hole then it would level out. A lot of people use this motor in this hull, so I'm hoping it all works ok.

The swordfish 220pro plus 2s-6s is available here at OSE. It has data logging, better mounting options and no lv issues. I placed an order for two yesterday, get the lcd box and you can access basic data logging at the lake! Just seems like a great choice, mine is also going in a genesis single drive on 4s. I need to be able to drop voltage and prop size for when my son wants to run it. I almost got the t-180 but a friend and first class boat builder pointed these out to me. A lot more esc for a little money. The order is already at the Canadian border. Steve doesn't mess around with shipping, you get it in days, not weeks!

I'm running a Genesis with a Neu 1515 2200kv 6S 642 prop T180 esc. No torque roll or handling probs, but this is a SAW setup. Should have vids of GPS run to post tomorrow. The Leo or TP 40 series motors are a good choice, 1600kv would be a good sport running setup. We are running a Leo 4082 2200kv 6S T180 x445 prop in a Delta Force Explorer, narrow hull like Genesis/Daytona with no torque roll issues, again this is a SAW setup....DJ

Jeremy, your Prather 215 would NOT be a bad starting point. Since your running a lower KV I would imagine you being able to step that up to as much as a 447 "Eventually" The guys suggestions on getting a ESC with data logging is a good one, good investment in your boat setting up arsenal....DJ
