    Chargerfusion!!!

    Hi guys,

I'm a newb - I've only been doing the boat thing for about 2 years and I've been overwhelmed with all the potential charger options

I use a Piranha Digital Peak Charger for most of my charging and I have lightbulb style discharger. It's getting to the point that I need to get a more complex charger set-up given the number of batteries I'm using.

I picked-up an OFNA 12v 18A power supply, as most of the good chargers seem to be DC only, but now I'm kinda stuck.

I've been looking at the Triton II, The Triton Jr., MRC Superbrain, Hyperion units, Thunder Power 610 and the list goes on. I lack experience in this area and was hoping you guys could provide me with some insight.

I'll be using a mix of mostly NimH 4500 7.2v / 8.4v 4000 packs for my 1/10 scale boats, and the mini 7.2v packs for my Mini Rio, Mini-V, and ZigZag 2. I do want to move into Lipo when I get a bit more experience under my belt. I also want something that will allow me to do form charging to condition my packs so I can maximize my investment

    Thanks !

It tough finding one charger that charges all chemistry types well. I have a charger for NiMH and a charger for Lipo. Because there are a ton of people changing to lipo, there are always good used chargers on the market. Keep your eyes open for something in the swap shops and Ebay.

Hi if you are going to use NIMH only the mrc 977 pro is nice because it can charge 2 packs at one time.... It will also do lipo packs but at 2.5 amps highest rate and you will need a external balancer for lipo charging..
:p What go faster that's what I like to do!
