    TFL Daytona/Genesis SAW setup

This 37" hull is my largest cat to date. It seems to be alot different than my smaller cats. I have alot of questions about setup.
    First setup I'm going to be using a Neu 1515 1Y (2200kv) Castle 240 Ice 6S 2x3S 5000mah 65-130c

I currently have an upgraded (from stock Genesis) Strudder, I dont care about turning this is a SAW only setup, is having the rudder in the prop thrust cone going to impede my speed ? Should I get an offset for rudder ?

At what depth below transom should I set my strut? flat + or - if not flat how much pitch

My rudder is 3.5" long, is this good or should I shorten it some b4 I knife edge it ?

CG I've read that this hull likes the CG at around 30%, does this sound right and where do you measure from, this transom is a bit different. My other cats liked it better at around 35%.

Props I have a Prather 230, Octura x445 m445 x642 ... will any of these work? I do understand that S/B etc is extremely critical considering the RPM's I will be turning.

My second setup once I get use to the speeds of the above will be a Neu 1521 1Y (1600kv) on 8S.......

Thanks for help ahead of time guys, I know this is a popular hull for going fast so I have no doubt all the above is not going to be a problem getting answers too, I did research but it got confusing and conflicting.... DJ

Haha, now everyones got one to build again. I ordered one a little while ago. Was thinking twin but... so just subbing. I don't recall setups though all the good reading would be on Fightercats site. This is what they started with.

I was thinking twin on this one, but decided that after I get this one right I'm going to get a Super Daytona and do it as a twin....

I agree, for the price its a good deal. Mine is ready except for the above fine tuning stuff. Hope to get first test runs in this coming weekend, weather permitting. We got snow here is southern North Carolina today! I will post vids, got this one a hot setup in a cheetah to test too.... DJ

Rudder depth is roughly 15% of total length to start...... The strut should be flat with the bottom of the boat to start, set it on a table with the prop just off the edge. I found that from here, slightly bending the strut and prop up in 2degree increments was more than enough, assuming you also set your COG at 30-34% to start....... If your trying SAW speed, that percent will be higher and strut flatter....... Water must be flat too with that hull, much like the Shocker

Did you order directly from TFL by chance?

No, I got mine here on OSE in the F/S forum...tks for the info brother. I do have to say I'm impressed with how nicely done this hull is, I was going to blueprint the hull and there is no need its perfect. I was wondering if this was normal for all the TFL hulls or did I just get really lucky. Do you have a offset rudder on yours ? .... DJ

They are actually pretty well made hulls, with the exception of overall strength. Inlays are a must. I am sure you have read the pro's, con's, and how come's regarding rudder/offset rudder. To be Frank, I hated the offset rudder. It caused my boat to pull towards the offset side during SAW. If someone want's to turn well, the offset did accomplish that aspect.

I have 2 friends that tried the offset rudder and they didn't notice any difference in handling but my cousin and I noticed a big difference in handling when we upgraded the strut to a skeg strut. It made a world of a difference. I run a Neu 1521 1.5D(1900kv) with a swordfish 200a 2-8s esc with a Octura X640s/b/p.

The genesis may be sold by hobbyking and many other retailers over the world but it's a tfl product. The exact same hull as the daytona that is so popular a build. You get a nice paint job with the genesis as well!

Finally got my first test run. It was windy 20mph plus but did get one decent run, GPS'D at 78mph running 6S Neu 1515 2200kv T180 642 prop. Boat was running a bit wet and water was rather choppy. Temps all below 100, so propping up a bit and some tuning should get a few more mph. I was very surprised at how nicely it turned to since its such a narrow hull and I hadnt offset the rudder. Again tks guys for advice, I'm really happy with this one, looking forward too todays testing and then setting it up with my 8S Neu 1521 1600kv 240a hydra 230 prop...will try to get vids today..........DJ
