[QUOTE: Tlandauer;557755]May I ask you what eaxactly you mean by that statement: that you installed a cap bank or you pulled the old one out and replaced a new one, just curious. I put cap banks on many of my Seaking 120A ESCs without any problem, but I am thinking putting one on my AquaCraft ESC, but if it will invite the same result, then I won't bother.
    Thanks![/QUOTE]

    Hi T.L
The 60A AQ ESC from my ul-1 was due for a cap upgrade, cause the cap looked puffy, so I ordered some from kintec for it. I verified the polarity on the old & new caps, then snipped the leads on the ESC cap, flush with the cap, so I had good leads to work with.

I slid 2 small cable stops over the existing leads, then slid three new cap leads into the cable stops & snugged the set screw in the stops up for a solid connection. I set it on gthe deck outside, plugged in a 3656, ESC & 2x 2s 5000mah packs. Well 5 seconds later it erupted in smoke & flames

Idk what happen or why, I read a ton of threads on running multiple caps on the 60a AQ, a ton of people recommend it. I guess it didn't want to cooperate. It was a hell of a fire though, glad it wasn't in a boat ....

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what to say. Maybe a short? The single long capacitor is "encased" in the ESC, how did you "extract" it?
I am also curious what is the shorter one with the odd shape, Proboat has that too.

Idk either bro, it beats me
I generally don't do anything like this w/o a lot of research on it first, who knows . the cap that you can change with the upgraded cap on this one was external. It was only attached with the 2 cap leads I snipped so I had leads to attach the new caps too. All I had to do to expose it more was trim the plastic dust cover a bit. Maybe it was a different version of the ESC, they have a few versions ???.

I never tried to pry the "cover" open on these, they seem so "robust" that I didn't want to mess with them, lol... I have replaced caps on Seakings w/o any issue, they are easier to replace.
I am glad that you are alright and like you said, it wasn't in your boat!
