Currently I'm running ec5 connectors in everything I have whether it's a boat or a buggy. I have lots of batteries to. I just switched over to ec5 a few months ago and have since spent a small fortune on them. Everything I have runs fine with them with the exception of my cheetah. Well it does run fine with them but the wires get warm. Warmer than I'm Ok with. The motor and ESC run cool tho. I was thinking about switching to the newer castle 6.5mm connectors. Would it be worth the switch? I'm trying to work out a deal on a dozen pairs (to get me started) with my local hobby shop. Just trying to justify my expense lol.
Man O man....... Connector debate

I use the new castles and they're great for me so far. As far as your hot wires I think it has more to do with the fact that you're using "bullet style" hard case packs. I have a few of the same type and the wires run hotter compared to my soft case direct wired packs. Soft case direct wired is best for boats. -
kfxguy,
I was told to stay away from the CASTLE 6.5mm connectors. Everyone directed me to the OSE 5.5mm connectors. When I use them on my cheetah, it all runs cool.Cheetah, Super Rio, (Mod) Starship (Mod and sold),Comment

Thats what I would do bullets are great, make sure to put little caps on them though to avoid shorting your packsComment

The ones I'm looking at have the plastic casing it goes in. There's no way ever I'd run the bullets that I gotta put caps on. No no. I'm so forgetful I'll blow my hand off in the first week lol.
Ok. So.... 6mm or 8mm? The ones with the plastic sleeve.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

Everything I currently run is 5.5mm other than a dean connector on my turnigy 60a ESC, and the astroflight ESC in my villain. My 6000mah 2s rev-tech bullet packs have interchangeable connectors on the pigtails. I run them in 4s series on my 60a, so they're alright until I go to a T180. My thunder power 4s & venom 5s packs all have 5.5mm w/o any issues.
I don't race, i like to sport boat. Since i'll probably be happy running an 8s - ¹0s twin at the most, I don't see a need to go bigger than 5.5mm connectors. I pick them up from an eBay seller here in the us. They are 20 pairs for $10Last edited by gsbuickman; 03-14-2014, 01:47 AM.Comment

I just called my lhs. He said he'll sell me 16 pairs of castle connector for $100 total. This is my thought process. He said he will keep some in stock for me should I ever need them. And I know I will. So that's a plus not having to order and wait. Second, they are made my castle so you know they are good quality. Third, what happens when ose is out of stock on their connectors? Or they stop catty in them and go to something different? I'll be in trouble then and have to start over. Then the ose connectors are good for 109 wire vs 8ga (which is what I have) on the castle. Then lastly they are green to match my scheme lol32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

What do you mean? I have a 8ga positive and negative coming off my esc. Run the red to positive on one battery. Negative to negative on other battery and then a jumper from positive to negative. What's the issue?32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

The Castle green 6.5mm connectors is all I use...no prob for series setups, parallel is more involved wiring...16 pairs for 100$ is very reasonable price.....DJTunnels-PS295.
