    Gas guy thinking green

I have a couple 1/4 scale tunnels with zenoha gas motors. I am slowly learning the benefits of electric. The cost of converting my tunnels is astronomically high. So I want to start slow and small. I have a tunnel laying around. It came with a 11.1 nitro. I still have the leg. Motor burned up. I also have a couple of 7.5 legs along with OS.21 and kb 3.5 legs. I'm not sure the make of the tunnel, but my question is, having different legs and the hull servos and what is needed, except for esc and motor and batteries. Is there any set up recommended or is it even worth converting this boat.

Main thing I think would be to build a dry water proof box to keep the battery and radio dry

People will want to know the hull length to help you better for motor esc requirements etc...

Im a old nitro guy and truly now prefer FE, nothing against nitros ran them for 40 yrs....building a radio box is going to depend on what electronics your going to use. I use the Spektrum marine water proofed rcvrs and have submarined my tunnels and other boats numerous times with no failures. I'm not saying it cant happen. If that tunnel originally came with a .11 then its not large so the 7.5 would be to big and create a tuning nightmare. I personally prefer the os lower unit, there is several different electric conversions made for them. Not sure how fast your wanting to go but to me just to get you started Id think a P-Spec setup would be Ideal. P-Spec class uses several different motor and esc combos, the one I use is the Aquacraft UL-1 2030kv motor and their esc or if your just going to run for fun then the T120 sold on ose is a good choice for a nice running 4S setup (4S is basically 14.8volts). Some pics of inside your hull and some dimensions will help us with leading you in the right direction.... heres a short vid of my 4S P-Spec tunnel....it runs a os lower unit...with the UL-1 2030kv motor....DJ

The hull is not in the greatest shape. And your right, the radio box would be tough to keep dry. I was thinking of a vs1 from tower and starting there. I have all the guts to a ts2 but unfortunetly due to a pre 2.4 g radio and a glitch, the boat hit a sea wall at a high speed and the wall won. The hull and cowell is unusable. It's hard to find a ts2 hull and cowl used at a decent price. Vs1 maybe the way to go. Btw anyone know the name of the boat in the pic and it's age. Maybe I'll unload it at a cheap price.

I'm not sure what hull that is, I was looking last night and thinking maybe a first gen VS1. Ive got a TS2 hull and cowl thats very clean and I have no plans on using, maybe we can work out a deal on it.....DJ

The marks on the hull in third pic is just where the paint had rubbed off, no hull damage at all.... DJ
