26" Rocket - prop question from a norwegian newbie

    Hi there!

I've replaced the stock motor with a TP3630 2100kv, powered by 4s batteries, spinning a 38mm 1.4p prop. I'm getting 58km/h (36miles/h) and full speed turns is no problem. I'm not looking for a 70miles/h boat, but the way she's handling, i'm guessing she can handle some more:) Looking for 45-50miles/h?

Now, the thing is, i live in Norway and FE boat parts is expensive and there are very few dealers, so it's easier to order on ebay or OSE etc. I've been lurking around on this forum for a while and i have learned that most prop questions is answered with a "buy a bunch of propellers and try for your self", and i would if i could. But if i order something from a foreign country exceeding $30, i get a $30 toll and taxes fee on top of that, which is a bummer if i order a prop who is totally wrong for my setup. In light of that i was hoping for someone to put me in the right direction

yeah, and sorry for the long post

Graupner carbon props are OK For that power level, though they may break if they touch the smallest solid object like a floating leaf, they are fairly cheap so you could get a few to test for under $30 and when you find the right one buy the next size down Octura (Graupners have less blade area for the diameter and flex under load reducing pitch slightly so are a lower load than Octura bronze props).

I have made a couple of large orders of props from OSE as the base price is so cheap compared to England and saved a fair bit, but with just a few props it is much more expensive with the postage taxes and fees. I'm not sure what the score is with Norway being outside the EU but still in in the EFTA, can you purchase tax free from Europe and avoid the fees? If so Astec models in England sells both Graupner and Octura Props, and Modellbaupirat in Germany sell Graupner.

You might want to get in touch with Erik Aa on here as he is trying to get some FE racing going in Norway.

      germany: modelbaupiratt sells cnc props
38mm is too small for that motor
guess a 42 mm will be spot
but if the hull will handle it, I don't know

A 440/3 blade was my favorite prop in my 26" Delta Force (which the Bling was copied from) with a motor of that power & KV rating.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

The best bang for the buck prop i've found for a single motor from 2030kv - 2350kv on 4s, in a mono or cat is an Octura m442. You can get less amp draw & more top end speed If you back cut it 1/16" too.

I am running an aeromarine mean machine cat, with a 2030kv on 4s w/ a back cut m442. She's no slouch. I also have a 1\8 scale 2350kv for It when I plug in my 5s packs...

Thanks! Going to try a CNC 442 prop. If temps are cool i want to try a 640 and maybe 642 too. I would like to learn the black art of prop balancing, shaping etc. but at the time i don't have the appropriate place to do it. I've read that the dust is bad for you and i don't want to expose my son or anyone else for anything hazardous.
