    Brushed symptoms

    Hi,
I have an old traxxas blast that I use as my rescue rig. It is a brushed system. I replaced the motor about 6 months ago, it has been running fine until recently.

Lately, the boat will power-on ok, but if there is any load on the motor, it slows waaaaayyyy down (motor rpms fall off big time). It acts like the end of the NIMH pack charge, kinda of peters out. At first I thought it was my old nimh pack no longer accepting a full charge, so I replaced the battery-- same problem. Then I tested on some other nimhs that I use in cars, and verified the same behavior, so I know it is not the pack.

So it is down to the motor or ESC. Since I replaced the motor 6months ago, I'm inclined to replace the ESC, but I'm not sure a bad ESC would exhibit this kind of behavior, so I thought I'd toss this one out here before I go down that route.

Let me know what you think,
    Chief

Check the brushes and commutator first.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
