    Rigger Help

Hi guys, i won this mess on eBay for £8 ($11?) so figured it was worth a punt.

Its 19" long but no idea what it is, but having had it delivered today it needs some work!

I have a couple of questions:

I have some 2200mah 3s packs which fit and want recommendations on motor/esc, this is a budget build as its essentially junk but i plan to get a JAE mini sprint later in the year and want to transfer the hardware.

The tub is ok and just needs cleaning up but sponsons are wonky presumably the mountings broke away and the guy did a p1ss poor job on fixing it, as you can see one sponson leans forwards the other backwards! how would you recommend i a) re-align them b) should i just build new sponsons?

the current stuffing tube will be replaced but is offset is this an issue?

Sponson Pads need to be set at 3.5 degrees inclination. The dihedral set at 1.5 degrees.

Gil has it right. There is so much work involved to make this boat run half decently that it is better used for firewood. It will never run anywhere nearly as well as the JAE will.

I would finish it, it looks pretty bad but you can move the boom tube mounts up the sponsons to sort the angles out and get some tub clearance and sharpen up the sponsons for the price of a length of brass tube, a sanding block and some epoxy, all of which you will need for the Minisprint build anyway so no net outlay.

Just make sure all the gear you put in it will transfer over. If you fancy racing in the future I run a Minisprint very successfully in the Mini Hydro class with a 400 size 3000kv Mega 16/15/3 (HET EDF 3w is a decent budget alternative) motor, Castle 35-50A ESC on 3s 1500-1800mAh (110 or 140g depending where you live south east 140g, elsewhere 110g) LiPo with a detounged and back cut X427. If you don't intend to race the above setup will work very well with your 2200mAh packs and props from an X427 up to an X632.

If you buy the zipp kit rather than build from plans I would replace the flexshaft, several people myself included have lost props when the stub shaft separated from the flex in use.
