    Looking for Skeg Struts

Besides Speedmaster what is available for Skeg Struts. Need one for a Cat. Preferrably a 1/4 inch as I run ball bearings and .150 shafts. My searching of all the usually sites doesn't show much.

    Thanks - Doug

    Hey Peterson,

Here is one, although it could be to large in size...

      Doug,

Despite the fact that they are showing these assembled backwards, the units themselves are very nice.

I used one on my Miss Geico for the 2012 Nats in P-Ltd Cat and P-Ltd Offshore. By the time I was done tuning, however, I had removed all but about 3/16" of the skag. At least on the MG, it scrubbed WAY too much speed. The slightest amount of steering input would drop the speed at least 5mph...

      Different hulls may react differently.

Either way, it's a pretty solid piece.

Plenty of meat on it to bore it for bearings as well, I believe.

        Thanks Mike and Darin,

The Accu-Tech looks excactly like the Speedmaster so I assume it is.

The Promise Hobby skeg may work for me if the height is long enough. I may order a couple.

I should have stated also that a 3/16 bored strut is really what I am looking for so I can bore it out for bearings and still have a smaller bore entrance for the .150 tube shaft.

Not sure I actually need a skeg strut but it was suggested and I have a lot of work to do to get my Cat to turn.

        Any other suggestions for Skegs?

Darin, Shame on you. It's not backward if you mount it to the transom inside the hull!

            I used this:

Mine did not slow in the turns though.

                Doug,

Will this work ? 5/16" bore gas strut with teensy flaw on nose. As penance for me standing you up in AZ you may have it gratis should you want it

I can supply pieces to get it down to 9/32"

wish i would have read this earlier. I just placed an order with Octura and one of the things on there was a skaged strut for a MG. I guess its not a big loss if it doesn't work out though. I have to give Tony a run for his money this season. I'm semi sponsored ha ha ha

Starboard side extended past the strut a bit

Just for future reference, I am pretty sure they (Accu-Tech) make their own hardware.
