That looks to be a 42mm x1.2 or 1.4 Kyosho prop on there. If so that is where your problem is. I run Kyosho props and octura plastic props and can tell you now that motor is better suited to a smaller octura. i would go for a 531 to start and then look at a 534. My rigger is better on a 431 than a 531 and that is running a superstock can (27krpm).
As the others have said, the one pickup behind the prop should be sufficient.
Octura plastic props are a few dollars each and will let you do a lot of testing to find a prop size to suit.
Down prop and let us know how you go. Do not keep overheating your gear, you will kill it, trust me I have done it.
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

just started to order parts from steve and learning as i go. as for the car esc it was just something i had laying around,(right know my budget is very limited due to to 2 major back surgeys and a 3rd on the way in the next two weeks, also living in phoenix its hard to get boat parts untill i found this site) on a better note some recent pick ups from ose were a octura x427 and a x632 for my 20 inch mono project also some micro hardware, the boat in the pictures was just taken off the shelf to help me learn how to set up a wire drive system before i started to chop up my wooden mono. The prop on this boat is the stock kysho prop that came with it.
      thanks, Jeremy

i like to have the stuffing tube a few mm above the keel line, depending on the size of the boat and the props im likely to run i also offset the shaft to counter prop torque

Also i would run the tube with as little bend as possible and after the shaft exits the transom should run almost parallel to the keel

heres a good link for ya

thanks for the link, one more quick question if im using a strut in stead shaft what do i use in between the back of the boat and the back of the shaft? and do use teflon liners, and if so do u run it all the way throught the back of the shaft?

i normally run the tube right through the strut, i run my homemade bearing cartridges and no teflon
