I think they are virtually the same motor from what I hear

      Ron,

My experience has been that the HiMax motors and the original BJ26 Motors are about equivalent. I've attached a picture showing some data I recorded several years ago in trying to compare the Spec motors being considered for the P-Limited class.

NOW, of note is this: The ORIGINAL BJ26 motors, and the HiMax motors for that matter, though rated at 1500KV, were actually more around 1600-1680KV. (see attached picture).

The NEW Miss Geico Pro Boat (made by Dynamite) 1500KV motors are an actual 1500KV. HOWEVER, they also have the benefit of having a CONSIDERABLY lower IR, so they are more efficient. Will crank over an X447/R prop on a 1/10th scale with some serious authority.

On my 1/10th Scale Miss DeWalt, that is now owned by Theron Wofford, was the fastest when I ran the newer 1500KV motor, even with the slightly lower KV. Made up for it with efficiency and torque. Ran 3 different variations of the X447/R prop, each with more a bit more pitch added, and each with a little less leading edge material.

I would suspect that the HiMax hasn't changed, so it's still likely the same good quality Spec motor it has always been.

      Hope this helps some.

Darin, sorry to jump in, would the FasTech 1500kv be the same as the original BJ 26 motor?

Yes, sorry... The BJ26, FasTech, and Miss Elam 1500s are all the same. The change in the 1500 to be an actual 1500 happened with the release of the Miss Geico, and has carried through to the re-branding of the motors to the current Dynamite branding.
