    battery and esc wires

6-s saw rigger neu 1527 1d castle 240 thunderpower 65c 5000 ma.battery. configuration allows for shortening wires to batteries and esc. couple questions. on esc to motor do the all the wires have to be same length? same question on battery to esc leads. will be running an appropriate cap bank. will shortening the battery leads be a big improvement? I dont want to limit the battery to just this boat as I run other boats at the lake. 001.jpg002.jpg

I had a problem with my caps overheating on a p-limited OPC tunnel. Long time OSE forum member "Fluid" recommended that I shorten the the battery-to-esc leads as much as possible. That *really* helped cool my caps down, has to do with ripple current.

On the esc-to-motor leads, I would imagine that due to the phasing control of the ESC you would want these to be as close to the same length as possible. I DO know that if you decide to shorten these wires, do so on the ESC side and not the Motor side, as sometimes the Motor wires are coated in a type of varnish so if you clip off the ends that are pre-prepped for soldering you may have a really hard time getting the solder to stick to the freshly cut motor wires (not sure who gave me that tip. but probably Fluid again....)

Yes, You want all leads as short as possible, but equally important you want all connectors to "contact" the same as well especially for the motor. The motor wires and leads should be short. The battery leads should also be short, but not impossible to unplug because they are too short. When possible I try to run battery cables less than 2" on each side and motor connections as short and direct as possible. It does make a difference in high amp applications.

Good solder joints and solid connections all go hand in hand with short wires.
