    balanced motor coupler

Who sells the nicest balanced motor coupler? Is it even worth worrying about? When I run my boat(s) out the water for testing, you can tell something isn't balanced. The prop is so its either the shaft or the coupler. Am I wasting my time?

No, you are not wasting your time. Do you mean coupler or collet? Coupler is smaller and the effect of imbalance should not be as bad as a collet. We are assuming your prop is balanced. Have a read the link, there is some good info there. The German made is nice.

      MBP collets are the best.

You can buy them in the states from rocket city racing or directly from MBP in Germany.

Prop is balanced. Its a coupler I guess. Set screw on motor side and collet on the other side.

First, don't run your boat when it is out of the water. If you do just blip the throttle. Full throttle will cause damage by over-reving the motor or overheating it or the driveline. You may just be hearing cable whip which can seem bad because it is not dampened by the water. Do you hear or see vibration with the cable not connected? It could be an out of alignment cable/stub shaft. Collet balance is one of the last things to worry about for most boaters.
Tyler is special because he spins over 50,000 rpm.

Collet balance is important for higher rpm setups for sure. You have the cheetah with 1717 right? With an Mbp collet it will spin very nicely. Most boaters don't need them I agree if running on 6s I think you're right in the pool of people that could benefit. My perception could be off though as I spin minimum 41k unloaded with a few boats.

Collet balance is important, but concentricity, unsupported cable length and host of other considerations are equally important. The set screw will make a minor difference. However, runout, bent cables, poor alignment will cause major headaches.

Any like Jay said, don't run a boat out of water at full throttle. It may sound horrible on the bench, but they work just fine in the water.

Oh and by the way, mine spin to 68k when they throw all the blades off

                  .

Yea I was just blipping the throttle to test it. My geico sounded the same stock. I just thought it was because it was cheaply built. When I slide the flex shaft through the tube into the couoler, it slides right in with no movement like as if it was mis aligned.

Yes I have a 1717. Im not sure if its 1650kv or 1850kv. I've read its both. It was supposed to be brand new when I bought it but I got no paperwork. I think it was a takeoff from a new x01. Yes I plan on running it on 6s. So I guess ill order one of those nice collets while im waiting on my esc.
