    Opinions on strongest mtr-flex coupling?

What's the strongest motor coupling out there? mtr-5mm to .187" flex?

I am getting 8 HP or 6000 watts in 19 lb. sport hydro, 8s 2p on an Aeromarine SS 3 piece coupler on the ovals for 3 years according to my data logger.

Maybe the bigger one, but the one with the brass insert sucks in my opinion.

IMO, the Octura is the strongest for a fair price. The steel is virtually indestructable.

Thw Modellbaopirate is a high quality piece, and I like it because on the motor shaft side it has opposite screws that clamp down instead of the usual set screw(s)---no need to grind a flat spot on motors such as the Neu. One has to be gentle as it is made of some alloy.
I have avoided the three piece variety. The insert is prone to have issue.

what kind of rpm are you spinning? Put on an octura then a modelbaupirate collet you will feel when you spool up the motor as the mbp collet is perfectly balanced. I don't run octura collets on high rpm setups as vibration is dangerous to the motor at high rpm. I haven't found a collet I like yet except the Lehners. Very nice and true spinning. The mbp collet is aluminum accidentally I stripped a screw once tightening it on, don't be fooled by the mbp collet design I have seen and run 13,500 watts through them never a slip.

Perhaps you are right on the rpm aspect. I never run SAW, so I have not had issues with any of the Octura that I have. It has been complained that every now and then one comes across a piece that will cause vibration. The OP asked the strongest, not which is the best.
I personally dislike anything that I might strip, I do realize the piece under discussion is of high quality in terms of design and workmanship. I use it as well...
BTW: I use an Octura, 8mm/1/4" on my 45" Sniper with a Neu 2230 on 12s2p.

I'm asking because I've lost a bunch of worked props and drives Jeff did for me. I have to run in the harbor due to a lack of lakes/ponds in my area so the occasional seaweed strips me of my fun and makes it quite $$$ Im running high prms and a 20 lb maritimo at close to 70mph. I have a bunch of octura's and a few others but wanted to hear your guys opinions. I think im gonna run a collet on the flex and see if that helps. I think I might have my esc's on brake mode but don't know because i don't have a programmer for them and its on stock set up whatever that is...Is Jeff wholt and Egneg still on here? Jeff machined my shafts as they're 3/16 stub to 6mm for .187 flex. And Egneg did most of my props.I know both their work quite well and it's top notch for machinery and matched props. Ill check out this "modelbaupirate" collet your talking about. I am familiar with the lenher collets but last I checked they weren't available in the states. Is that still so?

Whats wrong with America!!? Yeah I found the mtr coupling "http://mbp-rc.de/Main-page. Why can't we have quality parts pumped out of our own country? Well...if I can figure out how to translate the sight I'll definitely go with the buttpirate couplin. Might as well, Germans made the hull. lol no offence Steve or OSE members just say'n we need some real craftsmanship back in the U.S. Wer'e only as good as our tools and ordering hulls and es'c and mtrs from Gemany gets old. especially when lenher has a few of your mtrs in for repair... sorry im done rantingThanks for the input guys. Been outa the loop for a few years but tis about time to get her wet again!
