Dah, $1k+ a boat in NAMBA or IMPBA will do that to you....prices have come down now though. Neu motors and LiPoly is somewhat less.

It is a little bit of a suprise how much things have come down. If only the dollar wasent getting murdered we would have more acess to the kewl euro stuff too!!!

It still seems to me that most FE guys prefer to sport run. We got 17 drivers at the NAMBA FE NATS. 17. We had a great time and it was loads of fun, but SEVENTEEN guys at the NATIONALS?? Kind of sad.

I am going gas to race. I am getting my second gas boat ready now (a twin to my FE T-Mono) and will have a third boat wet in the next month. We get 30 or more drivers at a District race here in D19 and have some classes with 25 drivers!! With all that we will run 4 rounds on both Saturday and Sunday running a total of 12 classes. I can go to a gas race with 3 boats, race 8 classes and get 32 heats in. Plus gas is easy. No charging, just fuel, pull, and go!!

But I still like my FE boats, but I will likely do mostly SAWS and 2-lap since there are so few FE races anywhere close to my house (say within 500 miles).

Oh well. It's all good!!

IMO, fuel racing has been around with good speeds for a long time. Everyone seems to have a better understanding of engines. Electric is still high tech and harder to understand and be successful. I think FE will be narrowing the gap in the next decade because they are becoming faster than fuel and can handle running with the heavy boats. Have you read Fluids article in Boat Modeler on building a FE to run with the gassers?

Electric has finally arrived, but still experiencing fast growing pains.

that is a sad turn out for the FE nationals, I got back the other day from the Namba Gas/Nitro Nats in Greeley Colo. they had a huge turn out, that had to be the most model boats I have seen in one place! awesome!

I'm not buying into the gloom and doom. FE is alive and well. Going through some growing pains like all the rest IMO, and the economy isn't helping any. No comment on the turnout at the Nats.

i dont think money is a issue. if you like it, you will find a way.
take me for example. i am 18 years old. hold a job and putting alot of money away for school and spend 140 dollars a fill up to go 400 miles LOL
i make it work tho.

there we go again....doom and gloom is fact Doug...gas is $4 a gallon, that's why you have not seen me in Chattanooga. It's a 6 hour drive down there.
