    Help removing motor mount

    Hello,

I have a TFL Ariane 2 cf that I am building (first build). I have a Neu 1527 1.5D motor for it. The TFL supplied motor mount will not be long enough for the motor and cooling jacket so I have decided to find one that will fit better.

I need to remove the original motor mount. I suspect my Dremel with a cutting wheel? Or maybe heat (don't want to warp the hull). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked on OSE and did not see a motor mount that would work with the 1527. Any suggestions ?

    Thanks for your time,

I have used a gas torch many times to do the same thing, warm it up slowly and evenly bit at a time, take your time and bingo just pulls off.
I would also use a mask, as heated up epoxy stinks real bad.not good to breath any in.

I couldn't find pics but you'll need a 40mm rear ring and just notch the original mount and add a piece where the ring needs to screw on. I used some Carbon fiber flat material that I had or you can get it from OSE. It was a lot easier than changing the whole mount.

To stop the heat from getting the hull take a wet wash cloth and place it on the bottom of the hull where you use the torch on the inside. This keeps the hull cool.

This is a 1530 but I've used a 1527 in the same mount.

Cut the fiberglass, make rails out of plywood, put the tail ring and the front plate on the motor, attach the fiberglass pieces to the tail ring and front plate, glue the fiberglass to the plywood rails, then glue the whole unit into the boat.

              Excellent ideas!

Without help from people on this site this boat would never float!
